Brawndo Posted March 29, 2017 Author Report Posted March 29, 2017 51 points in 42 games this year was UMass-Lowell's leading scorer Quote
Brawndo Posted March 29, 2017 Author Report Posted March 29, 2017 Expected to make his debut on Sunday vs Isles per SB Nation College Hockey. Signed ELC Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 He's gotta be better than Deslauriers, right? Quote

North Buffalo Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 noice now find a good college D to sign. Quote
tom webster Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 FYI, this is considered an average to below average college free agent class. That being said, every winning team seems to have a guy that came out of nowhere. Quote
dudacek Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 He's gotta be better than Deslauriers, right? Yeah, but is he good in the room? And can he chuck 'em five times a year whether it helps the team or not? #buhbyesamson #sarcasm?whydoyouask? Quote
woods-racer Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 This signing is why I still like GMTM. As long as he never stops trying and taking chances with Pegula's money I'll continue to support his efforts. Quote
ct fab Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 Will be show up to meetings on time? Seriously, need to sign Cal when ND loses now, though the way Penner has been playing it wouldn't be as devistating if he doesn't Quote
Derrico Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 Heard they signed a college player and assumed it must be a d. Quote
Huckleberry Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 FYI, this is considered an average to below average college free agent class. That being said, every winning team seems to have a guy that came out of nowhere. Don't think I'll read to much into what scouts consider average or not for college after they hyped up vessey and that kid that signed with the oilers. Quote
Ogre Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 I like the move whether the kid is hot or not. IMO any guy that didn't cost a pick has the potential to at least become a pick down the road. If they're more than that? Bonus! Less? T and M. No skin off my ass. Quote
tom webster Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Don't think I'll read to much into what scouts consider average or not for college after they hyped up vessey and that kid that signed with the oilers. Although it's much too early to evacuate JV or DC, very few college free agents turn into top 6 forwards, top 4 defenseman or top goalies. Quote
Huckleberry Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 We'll see how he does against the Islanders :D Quote
inkman Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 This signing is why I still like GMTM. As long as he never stops trying and taking chances with Pegula's money I'll continue to support his efforts. Don't most teams sign College FA every year or two? Heard they signed a college player and assumed it must be a d. Any player of that magnitude would have been hyped like Vesey, Schultz, or Dekeyser. Quote
Buffalo Wings Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Love it, more please MIKE VECCHIONE Quote

Most, maybe. Did the Sabres prior to Pegula and TM? I can't think of one in the last ten years that was signed and played a game. Quote
Buffalo Wings Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Most, maybe. Did the Sabres prior to Pegula and TM? I can't think of one in the last ten years that was signed and played a game. Chad Ruhwedel is one Quote
woods-racer Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Chad Ruhwedel is one He signed and went straight to Rochester right? Quote
Ogre Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 He signed and went straight to Rochester right?IIRC he played out the remainder of Buffalo's season and then went to Rochester for their first round playoff exit. Quote
NewinBuffalo Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Any player of that magnitude would have been hyped like Vesey, Schultz, or Dekeyser. A couple years ago several posters wanted to sign Troy Stecher who was a middling college free agent. He is looking like a solid player for the canucks and their fans seem to think the way he is playing this season is a lock for the top 4 for years to come. Quote
Trettioåtta Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 He signed and went straight to Rochester right? Normally teams promise the players ice time in the NHL to get them to sign. McCabe basically counts. He wasn't a free agent, but we convinced him to forgo his college education to sign with us and promised him ice time in the NHL for the remainder of the season. Quote
