North Buffalo Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Two games in a row Crosby has cheapshotted player, first O'Reilly in the nads then blowing out Methots finger tip http://cdn1.thecomeback.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/MethotFinger-832x447.jpg Edited March 24, 2017 by North Buffalo Quote
R_Dudley Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 Yes, rules are rules and are supposed to apply to everyone otherwise they are not rules. Quote
Scottysabres Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 Yea, givin' the attack on O'Reilly the game before and the rule ok slashing clearly stating if the slash results in injury it is an automatic 5 and game misconduct, a couple game suspension is in order. Sid's out of control lol Quote
ubkev Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 I voted no. It won't happen, and I will spend zero time thinking about it, because me thinking about it won't change anything. Yada Yada Yada purpose of discussion blah blah Crosby. Quote
sodbuster Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 Should it happen? Probably. Will it happen? Not a chance. Quote
North Buffalo Posted March 24, 2017 Author Report Posted March 24, 2017 Oh agree just trying to poke the proverbial NHL PR bear... posted poll on Twitter. Quote
Cereal Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 I voted No... It seems to me that both the crotch spear and the mild slash are fairly routine plays. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 I had been unaware of his shot on O'Reilly. I'd bet dollars to donuts that's payback for something. It doesn't overly concern me. As for the finger chop, I don't think a suspension is really warranted. How many times do players get slashed on the hands every night? Dozens of times? It certainly seems like it happens all the time. This outcome seems like a freakish, unlikely one. Or is it the case that Crosby is an elite hand-slasher, just like he is with just about every other thing he does on the ice? Quote

It seems to me that both the crotch spear and the mild slash are fairly routine plays. so, getting speared in the balls and getting your finger tip chopped off are ok with you? how come no one goes after him? Sabre fan Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 I have played hockey for a ton of years, and watched too and not often you see anything close to Methot's injury...Cindy is getting worse as he finds that he is getting away with this **it...he will get even worse too unless the NHL does something to send a massage and stop him (which they won't do to him in a million years) Quote
Cereal Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) so, getting speared in the balls and getting your finger tip chopped off are ok with you? No I'm not "ok with" those two things, but I don't think either warrants a suspension. As other posters have said, players get their hands slashed with that same, mild amount of malice every night. The fact that it was a freak thing shouldn't warrant a suspension. I'm also not "ok with" getting face-washed, or cross-checked, or slashed in the arms or legs. But none of those things warrants a suspension. Edit: I should say that, it seems to me these two incidents both warrant penalties, although I can understand that a ref would miss the sneaky little crotch-spear. RonHextallsShoulderPads Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 We KNOW that was payback. Interesting comment from a Deadspin commenter saying: After Tuesday night’s brutal dick-shot to Ryan O’Reilly, he wouldn’t even come out of the dressing room to meet with his family and friends. They were escorted back to meet him, which... is not how that usually works. So, he has some sense of shame. I wonder if there's truth to it? Quote

RonHextallsShoulderPads Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 Good PR but didnt last long... Methot's finger... Yes but, I can't believe i'm sort of defending crosby, the guy doesn't have some laser accuracy to swing his stick across a players body and perfectly chop his finger around the glove padding. that's just bad luck. guys slash sticks all the time without this result. Taro T Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 He should've received 2 minutes for preventing Cal O'Reilly from ever knowing the joy of unclehood. He should've received a 5 & a game for the play that will keep Methot from ever getting to hold a tea cup the British way again. Neither he nor Ristolainen should have received a suspension for their acts the past few nights. Quote
darksabre Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 Do we really need this "Cindy Crosby" garbage? Quote

I-90 W Posted March 24, 2017 Report Posted March 24, 2017 I will never understand the way that this league is ran. It's as if their sole focus is on increasing the fan base even if it means alienating their existing base. The preferential treatment of original six teams, big market teams, all stars etc. People who love hockey already do, no point in always trying to become larger while aggravating your bread and butter.
