So we have our right side D - Risto, Antipin, Bogo. Now let's work on the left side that needs much improvement. McCabe is there, even just one legitimate add by Botts would necessitate only one of Guhle, Falk, and Gorges being in the main top 6.

Does a healthy Kulikov count?

Hard to say. Ideally I'd like to go in a different direction, something in the vicinity of a Brodin, I'm thinking.

 

McCabe - Ristolainen

Brodin - Antipin

Guhle - Bogosian

 

I think that would improve significantly on last year.

Why not go for both?

 

Then Guhle can ease into pro hockey in Ra-cha-cha & get called up as soon as Bogosian breaks. (Yeah, yeah, lefty, righty issues but thry can work those out.)

Having Kulikov there on the bottom pair (if he wants to come back) so that Guhle can ease into the pro game makes sense. But as you touched on, we may want a right hand shot waiting in the wings for the inevitable Bogo injury, as bringing up Guhle would leave us with 5 left shots on D. I don't think a team needs perfect balance by any means, but I'd rather have at least 2 right shots back there.

so many good rhd in this draft. Not that it helps anytime soon.

By all reports this at the least is an upgrade to our defense. Still hope we can swing a deal not involving Kane with a team having to expose defensemen in the expansion draft.
