WildCard Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Simple, name your top 5 and worst 5 gms in hockey Top 1) Bowman 2) Holland 3) Yzerman 4) MacLellan (Caps) 5) Fletcher (Wild) Bottom 1) Sakic 2) Benning 3) Gorton 4) Armstrong 5) Chiareli / Brian Murray Quote
Randall Flagg Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Top:1.) Stan Bowman 2.) Doug Wilson 3.) Steve Yzerman 4.) Dean Lombardi 5.) David Poile Bottom:1.) Benning 2.) Sakic 3.) Bergevin 4.) Tim Murray 5.) George McPhee (those Caps defenses...Forsberg for Erat) Quote
WildCard Posted March 1, 2017 Author Report Posted March 1, 2017 Great call on Wilson, forgot about him. Same with Bergevin I do not think Lombardi is a good gm. I think he got an amazing head coach ad 3-4 players. The Brown contract and Gaborik resigning are some terrible moves by him. Then again, that's only two moves. But, Brown's contract is just deplorable Quote

Very true. He did what was necessary to win a Cup. He also held onto prospects like Toffoli. How has his drafting been though? I haven't seen a good King's prospect in a long time Interesting that you didn't include Holland in your top 5. He seemed like a lock to me Quote

He seemed like a lock to me Holland has been miserably bad for the last 7 years or so, according to Red Wings fans. The ones I know desperately want to get rid of him. He used to be great too though. Dean's drafting isn't great, but then again his picks have all been traded or later in rounds. None of the guys are perfect that's for sure Quote

None of the guys are perfect that's for sure I feel like Holland's problem was trying to desperately hang onto an old core. But he's drafted great talent to replace them, and seems to have finally accepted that. It's hard for me to negate almost 2 decades of success for someone like Poile Quote
Jsixspd Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Hard to argue against Bowman being at the top of any list. What he's accomplished in his tenure with the Blackhawks is amazing. He's even NAMED after the damn Stanley Cup - there's some weird synchronicity stuff right there. He starts in July 2009; and just a few months later makes a fellow named Joe Quenneville the 'Hawks coach. That's not a bad move, right there. What's sad - Stan lived in Buffalo and went to Canisius. If only we'd ended up with HIM in the front office. Sigh! Quote
