WildCard Posted August 29, 2017 Author Report Posted August 29, 2017 What reason would that be? (Why do you feel that way?)
Randall Flagg Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 Well that and if you think we should resign Kane, or that signing Tavares is a good idea Signing Tavares and moving Sam and Kane for defense would be brilliant tbh
WildCard Posted August 29, 2017 Author Report Posted August 29, 2017 Signing Tavares and moving Sam and Kane for defense would be brilliant tbh We should make this a thread

My God. I expected a lot more from someone who used to work in the NFL. Then again maybe he is writing this Koolaid piece because that's what he thinks the subscribers will want?

Then again maybe he is writing this Koolaid piece because that's what he thinks the subscribers will want? Used to work in the NFL is a major understatement Gabriel has spent most of his adult life as an evaluator for various NFL clubs. He started his career in 1991 working for the Buffalo Bills as a part time scout under dormer Bills Director of Player Personnel Norm Pollom. He left the Bills in June 1984 to become the Great Lakes area scout for National Football Scouting. Following the 1984 season, Gabriel joined the New York Giants as their Midwest area scout and was promoted to Director of Player Development in 1996. The Giants went to three Super Bowls and won two during Gabriel’s time with the club. Following the Giants appearance versus the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV, Greg became Director of College Scouting for the Chicago Bears under General Manager Jerry Angelo. He held that position until June of 2010. During his time with Chicago, the Bears won three Division titles and the 2006 NFC Championship. In his nine Drafts with the Bears, the team drafted 12 future Pro Bowl performers such perennial Pro Bowler Matt Forte, Tommie Harris, Devin Hester, Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman. In the 2012 – 2013 season, Gabriel was a consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles Scouting Department and has since done some small scouting roles for various NFL clubs. Since leaving the NFL Gabriel has been a contributor for the National Football Post, the Bleacher Report and more recently Pro Football Weekly. He also is both a writer and contributor for WSCR (670the Score) in Chicago. The last three years he has authored the Pro Football Weekly Draft Guide. Gabriel grew up in Amherst and is a 1974 graduate of Canisius College where he was a member of the football team. He and his wife Robin currently resides in the Chicago area. That Aud Smell Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 And vice-versa. Fair deuce! Not especially well-written, but here's the thing: It envisions a plausible scenario.
darksabre Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 Fair deuce! Not especially well-written, but here's the thing: It envisions a plausible scenario. That's what we should re-name the team.
WildCard Posted August 29, 2017 Author Report Posted August 29, 2017 @FornessD_GGSN Reached out to some #Bills sources per Pegula jet in PHX. Hearing it could be JJ Nelson for Chiefs 2019 fourth from Ragland deal
jeffismagic Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) The Greg Gabriel article in a nutshell. "Bills hired coaches who want to run their schemes. Therefore it is good that they traded away players that don't fit those schemes." How is this any different than Rex changing a top 4 NFL defense because he wanted to run a 3-4? Who cares about Rick Dennison? He was the guy who said yes after 2 other guys with better resumes turned us down. So the Bills led the NFL in rushing last year and Tyrod had the most time to throw in the pocket so let's change that around so Dennison and McD's buddy Castillo can play Fat Ass Ducasse over John Miller? No thanks. And by the way, having a corner that covers one of the best team's WR's in man coverage is A GOOD THING! Why can't defensive guru McDermott figure out how to use that? Too lazy or doesn't know how? Was Sammy injured? Who is healthier now? Sammy or Jordan Matthews? Looks like someone is unavailable and it's the guy the Bills traded for. Why can't defensive guru McDermott figure out how to use that? Too lazy or doesn't know how? My first guess is that he's just too lazy. Former wrestlers are notoriously lazy. And I think there's a decent chance that he just doesn't know how. Because he's dim witted. Dark horse candidate for the correct answer: He has a well-considered, potentially-flawed philosophy that favors zone coverage over man-to-man. Was Sammy injured? Who is healthier now? Sammy or Jordan Matthews? Looks like someone is unavailable and it's the guy the Bills traded for. Idiots. Don't they know how to predict the future?! Edited August 29, 2017 by That Aud Smell
tom webster Posted August 29, 2017 Report Posted August 29, 2017 So let's see, whose opinion should we take more seriously, Greg Gabriel or Jeff the Magic Man? Just another NFL insider who understands and approves of what the Bills are doing.

If he wasn't writing for a website that depends on user subscriptions from the Buffalo area.

WildCard Posted August 30, 2017 Author Report Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) How is this any different than Rex changing a top 4 NFL defense because he wanted to run a 3-4?he guy the Bills traded for. Well, Rex Ryan and Whaley, on the first year of Rex, resigned Dareus as a NT to a mega deal when he's clearly a DT, they signed Hughes to an extension to be a 3-4 OLB, when he's clearly a DE, and they went and drafted Shaq Lawson as an OLB, when he's clearly a DE Meanwhile, in reality, McDermott and Beane didn't resign / moved Darby and Gilmore, cause they don't play zone / don't have ball skills, drafted White who fits their scheme, drafted a QB in the 5th that fits their scheme, and moved Ragland who, surprise, doesn't fit their scheme So Rex and Whaley just threw talent at mismatching schemes, whereas McDermott and Beane, like the article says, have moved / drafted players specifically for their scheme. That Aud Smell Posted August 30, 2017 Report Posted August 30, 2017 have you met the world? Morons they may be, but happiness they seemingly don't want This is a good point. Negative stories generate clicks. Positive ones, not as much.

Weave Posted August 30, 2017 Report Posted August 30, 2017 This is a good point. Negative stories generate clicks. Positive ones, not as much. If tha internets was a thing during the K gun years there would have been even more clicks on national stories about the Bills. Tone of stories don't generate clicks. Interest generates clicks. Amazing that there isn't more apathy in this town towards the Bills.
