WildCard Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 Hey, you either see it or you don't. Not everyone will see it. So 3 posters don't see it And? Do we know that one of the 2018 qbs won't also be good and available? Because that's clearly the plan. I get being mad we didn't draft him but every ###### post is about Mahomes. He reminds me of GoDD in a sense.
That Aud Smell Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 He reminds me of GoDD in a sense. Fair comparison. It's the singularity of focus -- the dog on a bone approach to an issue. However, he's yet to compare any NFL prospects to horses, so he's falling a bit short of GoDD
LGR4GM Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Hey, I did bring him up as an example of the Bills terrible approach at improving the QB position. Others wanted to discuss him with me. Feel free to discuss whatever you want when it comes to the Bills. I will continue to go on about QB's because this organization has no clue. And how do you know there is a plan? Is that wishful thinking or is there something more to it? The Bills are taking a QB in 2018 originated from Bills ass kisser Sal C who came up with that concept after the Bills traded down and drafted a CB again. All I see is random noise. There is no evidence that Beane and McDermott have some grand future in store for us. How do you know there isn't a plan? What evidence do you have other than not drafting Mahomes?
WildCard Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 How do you know there isn't a plan? What evidence do you have other than not drafting Mahomes? Telling you man, this has the Pegula crusade by GoDD written all over it

Specifically they got an extra 1st round pick from the trade back with the chiefs. Let's say they looked at Mahomes and saw what I saw, raw talent but too much scrambling without a lot of stepping up in the pocket. They don't want that in a QB. Considering their feelings on TT I am not surprised. So they said hey let's see if we can trade out and get an extra 1st next year because those QB's look better. They then spend this college football season heavily scouting their top 5 options with the plan to narrow it down to 2-3 they actually want. Next year with their 2 first round picks they can trade up from say 7th or so if needed to get the guy they want. All speculation but just as plausible as saying "the Bills can't evaluate QB's and totally failed by not taking Mahomes, there is no plan."

So why in the world would the Bills get to a draft with the guy making the pick the rookie head coach?! This "approach" or plan is so ridiculous I don't know how anyone can defend it or like the idea that their billion dollar sports team had no adult supervision on draft night.

Your's is based on facts, we have no idea weather Bean or McDermott can evaluate QBs
jeffismagic Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) Actually, it's more plausible. Your's is based on facts, we have no idea weather Bean or McDermott can evaluate QBs Well, they are already doing things on QB's. 1.Brought back Tyrod Taylor after he failed to live up to his contract last year. 2.Passed on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, two QB prospect that other NFL teams spent 2 #1 picks on. 3.Drafted Nathan "Coach Pick" Peterman 4.Installed a WCO offense that requires the QB to make fast decisions and accurate throws on time. A system that is perfectly WRONG for the veteran QB they brought back! 5.Hired a QB coach with ZERO NFL experience coaching QB's. 6. Gave Tyrod Taylor a contract with over 8 million dead cap if they move on from him next year. 7.Traded their #1 WR and the only player that elevated the Bills already bottom of the barrel passing game. Right now I would say there are a lot of clues how good these guys are at QB stuff. Does not look like anything but a disaster. Edited August 22, 2017 by jeffismagic
That Aud Smell Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 It is a mystery to me why the Bills have Taylor playing in the system apparently being installed.

Right now I would say there are a lot of clues how good these guys are at QB stuff. Does not look like anything but a disaster. So, you're post really boils down to 3 things 1) They brought back Tyrod for a 1 year deal where they will ditch him next draft to get the QB they want 2) They drafted a QB that works in the WCO. 3) They made moves to have more currency next year to pick the guy they want, because they don't believe in Tyrod You made a post earlier too about how the Bills did nothing to attempt to address the QB position. Well, you're telling me they did. They just didn't draft future HoF and GOAT Can't-throw-in-the-pocket Patrick Mahomes Also, did you even see Watson? The guy is trash. Kizer will easily be better than him You're manically obsessed with condemning an organization based solely on the irrelevant ineptitude of past regimes.

I just posted moves that the current regime made that I disagree with. And sorry, if you are going to bring back Tyrod why would you install an offense not suited to him? This idea of forcing players into bad positions to fit the coaches preferred scheme is what people had been complaining about Rex for the last 2 years. It is a mystery to me why the Bills have Taylor playing in the system apparently being installed. Stubborn coaches. See Rex Ryan.

None of those mean anything beyond this year though

You trust Doug freaking Whaley?
LGR4GM Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 I think the Bills and Pegula should have fired everyone after the season ended and done a real GM search who then did the coach search. It is a huge stain on Pegulas face IMPO.

It is a huge stain on Pegulas face IMPO. I'm not sure they didn't do that. Pretty clear they did it with the Sabres. Maybe McDermott was just available before Bean was
LGR4GM Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 I'm not sure they didn't do that. Pretty clear they did it with the Sabres. Maybe McDermott was just available before Bean was But you let your GM make that call. That is my point. I would have more misgivings about Housley if Pegula waited until June to fire Murray and then hired Housley and then had Houlsey pick Paul Fenton for GM. That would have been so eyebrow lifting I would have looked perpetually baffled the rest of my life. I like mcdermott but the way it was done with him and Beane was not good.

LGR4GM Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 What I'm saying is, maybe Bean was always coming over, and said McDermott is my guy, so hire him until I get there Yea... I don't believe that. It lacks substance, or logic.
WildCard Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 Yea... I don't believe that. It lacks substance, or logic. Firing / Hiring GM's after the draft isn't uncommon in the NFL. It would also be really against the grain of the search Pegula did for the Sabres.
Lanny Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 I think it's very uncommon. Scouting staff etc get fired after the draft, but not the GM.
WildCard Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 In all likelihood it was McDermott then Bean, but either way I really don't care. I like Bean, and I like the moves they've made. I'm on this train, it

It is a huge stain on Pegulas face IMPO. Agree. Pegula and his love affair for Sean the Wrestler reminds me of the Lafontaine meeting where he gave Pat a job that Lafontaine told Pegula he was not qualified for.

That Aud Smell Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 IIRC, Pegula notionally proffered GM position to PLF, who said he wasn't qualified but would find a guy who was.
