shrader
Back to QB names. If the QB has a name that could be the lead character in an action movie, he'll be a good QB. If he doesn't, crap QB. Is there a Lincoln Hawk available in next year's draft? If so, draft the ###### outta that guy. I guess that would explain Byron Leftwich. Is there a less intimidating name than Byron?
Eleven
I watched a little of the first quarter. Penalties. More penalties. Then some penalties. This is a cool site for picking the winner of every single NFL game and then seeing how your standings shape out: https://playoffpredictors.com/Football/NFL?L=Aw18ZXTt-DFOS1b0ckAHere's mine: https://playoffpredictors.com/Football/NFL?L=IwJlwsTSb96wXaq3QpLsbjx3TIg40VPfbKEjCqInU+7TXNpdBi1s7w6-vzLsC5BgK7dgQA That's kind of fun but I wish it would let me save week 1, then predict week 2 after week 1 games actually are played and save again, then predict week 3 after week 2, etc. Edited August 18, 2017 by Eleven
inkman
Howard WGRVerified account @hsimon62 2h2 hours ago More according to @PFF Peterman was 9-12 for 160 yds with clean pocket last night and 1-8 for 7 yards when under pressure Sounds like a typical Bills QB such as Losman, Edwards, EJ Manuel, and Tuel. When the bullets start flying he turns into in a pumpkin. Just praying that they hire someone in the next 10 years who understands modern passing and QB play. What are all NFL QB stats under duress? I think we need a point of reference. Edited August 18, 2017 by inkman

Doohicksie
What are all NFL QB stats under duress? I think we need a point of reference. Also... He's a rookie. There's gotta be an adjustment when you jump to the pro game. The first part of that is very encouraging- he can, in fact, execute at the pro level. Now he just needs to learn to deal with the pro level rush.

Bills can't draft QBs, he's the next Jeff Tuel.

pi2000
Blake Bortles, Blane Gambert, Carson Wentz. Not good QB names. Derek Carr, solid QB name. I'd use 2 picks in this draft on QB. a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd depending on how things shake out. The other picks in the first 3 rounds I draft all the offensive lineman and maybe 1 WR. So 2QB, 3OL, 1WR with those top 6 picks. Interesting. Has any team ever done that? Take 2 QBs in the first few rounds? I wouldn't hate it... but they need OL, WR, and LB help too. Jsixspd
do you understand why that doesn't matter? Like the theory is just a joke about how QB's with bad names are never good. Myself, I'm now forever biased by J.P. Loseman against QBs who go by their initials vs first names. :) Or QBs whose last names begin with Fitz and end in Patrick. My worst nightmare - a QB named JP Fitzpatrick. ;)

That Aud Smell
Enjoyed the back and forth on QB names. I Googled a phrase intended to identify the greatest QBs of all-time, and you know how Google will give you a scroll-able banner at the top when you do that? So, I started scrolling through. Holy Moly. Not only are there no bad names, there are so many great ones. Especially the old school names -- Bart Starr, Y.A. Tittle, Warren Spahn, Sid Luckman. Maybe the closest anyone comes to having a bad name is Roethlisberger (sp) -- if only because who the hell can spell it. But even at that -- cool ass nickname. That Aud Smell
Warren Spahn? Well done. Just checking to see if people read my nonsense. In a way, I'm sorry that there's at least one of you.
DarthEbriate
Enjoyed the back and forth on QB names. Likewise! But why am I, a Packers fan, reading a Bills thread on Sabrespace? Because summer is slow for hockey. But I did the QB name thing as far back as I can remember. Lynn Dickey = good QB and fun name. check. Randy Wright = Bad name. Terrible QB. Anthony Dilweg = Oof. Worse QB. Blair Kiel = Bad name, I blocked him out as a player entirely. Don Majkowski = great name, decent QB. Brett Favre = all typos aside, that's a good name (bonus points for being so close to Bart Starr), and HOF QB. Aaron Rodgers = solid name, laying the foundation for HOF QB if he can win another championship. Seneca Wallace = great name, he should have been a better player; Matt Flynn = solid name, solid backup. Scott Tolzien = meh, meh. It all checks out! Carry on. That Aud Smell
Trent Edwards, the worst name Really? He would not have disturbed the theorem if he'd turned out to be really, really good. Good hard one-syllable first name, then a normal common sounding last name.

Jsixspd
JP Losman... awful name. I would add in an 'e' - and write his name as JP Loseman - seemed to work better somehow. Although either way - pronounced JP Loss Man, or Lose Man. Bad name.
