Sure makes ya wonder ... in a down ratings year with lots of empty seats, who would the NFL rather see in the big game. Brady or Bortles ?

I don't wonder at all.

2 solid pages of whining about another team winning and about how "the refs favor the Patriots" and "the NFL wants the Patriots to win."

It's as if the NFL never conducted a highly dubious investigation of deflategate, suspended TFB 4 games and took away their 1st-round pick.

These posts are the very definition of "loser's lament."

GTF over it already.  The Bills will win when they deserve it, and not otherwise -- just like every other team.

In the meantime, if you can't appreciate the late-career stage of a Michael-Jordan-level talent, maybe you shouldn't watch the NFL.

The refs favored Michael Jordan, too.

Who spoke these words?

"I guess they got the calls and we didn’t get them."

Tom Brady when they lost to Carolina,... this year.

So the Pats lost?  And didn't get calls?

How does that jibe with the "the NFL wants the Pats to win and gives them all the calls" theory?

Yeah, Jordan is a fun example because the NBA might even be worse than the NFL in regards to the rulebook being used completely differently depending on what team and players are playing.

i only remember it cuz I was at my annual "Week Four Random Matchup" party. You know, the one with all the dips and food. I just watch for the commercials though.

No reasonable person believes there’s a conspiracy among the refs and/or NFL senior management to favour the Patriots.

Correspondingly, no reasonable person refuses to acknowledge that some or even many of the refs are unwittingly influenced by the Patriots’ aura amd prestige.

As someone may have suggested, Jordan got officiated in a way that was separate and apart from how everyone else got officiated.

The footage of the end zone yuck-yuck and Ref #34 seeking out Brady for a post-game congratulations are indicative of something. And that something tends to favour the Pats.

But you earn your breaks, as they say.

As much as I dislike the Pats, people aren't watching the video around that pic very closely.  There are Jaguar players in the area and when Flemming goes to congratulate White, the official quickly goes after him to stop him from seemingly going after a Jags player.  Once he gets Flemming, a very large guy, to turn out of the way and sees that he's actually just congratulating a teammate, the official laughs about it (when the screen captured was taken.)  As the video continues, you see him backing away from Flemming and White with his hands out toward them, saying "OK, OK."  The official wasn't celebrating with them, he was laughing at himself for seeing something that wasn't actually happening.

I saw that too and think you got it exactly right.

Of course, that ref is still going to call PI at the exact moment when Brady will need it to keep a drive alive.

And we won't get a single replay or mention of the blatant hold the Jags WR on 3rd and 5 the last drive before the winning one, without which a first down heading into Pats territory was a given. But 47 yard spot foul under 2 minutes when contact was initiated by the WR on a ball uncatchable by him because the ridiculously good coverage legally used the sideline as another defender? Coming right the ###### up.

There was a 7 quarter stretch during which the Bills played in NE, where the pats supposedly committed 3 fouls for 8 yards. I could have shown you an OL hold or WR push off on every single offensive play they had during that stretch.

If you have any real sample size to go off of, that includes both patriots games and games from any other teams, it is the most obvious thing in the world, to the point where neutral color commentators are making bitter remarks about it fully aware of the fact that it could harm their current position on CBS/ESPN/whatever.

You could be Goodell's press secretary. It's obvious to almost everyone (even non football watchers) that watches for more than 5 minutes that judgement calls and penalties favor the Patriots* the majority of the time.

It’s like the Lehner argument: it’s not the amount of saves, it when he doesn’t make them.

With the Patriots it’s not the calls, it’s when they get them.

I see the context. Still weird as hell for the ref to react that way.

Jerry Hughes was flagged for the same thing - celebrating with a teammate.

...or maybe Lehner isn’t very good and the Pats are extremely good.

Or maybe they're just regular good but become extremely good with the help of the zebras. You can consider it defeatist, but Buffalo is far from alone in their concerns. Even other winning franchises (such as Pittsburgh) have gone on the record complaining about the Patriots* cheating in various ways and the way the refs just seem to hand them questionable call after questionable call.

Oh, and for the record even their punishment wasn't on the up and up. When deflate gate happened they should have suspended Brady immediately which would have cost him a chance to play in the playoffs that year. Instead, he got a month off to start the next season instead.

Some guy broke down the 4th of the Jags. Hacket and Marrone lost that game

Every single 1st down play, 2nd down play, and all but one 3rd down play were exactly the same.

Up 10 needing to kill time, the Jags did....

Every 1st down: shotgun formation, run up the middle. The longest one went 2 yards

Every 2nd down: deep shot down the field (20+ yards)

So, now all 3rd and longs, and on all of them but one, they threw the ball and it was incomplete.

So they went 3 and out a ton, and killed no clock. They also switched from man defense to zone, against the best zone defense QB to ever live, when all of their DB's are experts at man coverage. How

Agreed on all of this and the Jags gave up on the play action pass so successful in the 1st half. Plus they could've used Bortles mobility on a few plays instead of pounding Fournette time and time again.

I saw that same Tweet thread about how and why Marrone and Hackett lost the game. The guy who authored those was a *little* too pleased with himself, since his preseason review of the Jags team (and coaches) was *spot on* in terms of what the team could and would likely accomplish, and why they'd come up short in the playoffs. But, credit to him. The Jags started to play not to lose before the 1st half was even over, for crying out loud.

Again:  a loser's lament.

The Pats don't beat themselves with stupid decisions (on or off the field), turnovers, botched assignments, etc., and they have the greatest QB and greatest coach of all time.

Coaching, intelligence and execution were the reasons for the penalty disparity vs Jax.  It wasn't, and isn't, "the refs."

But hey -- whatever gets you through the night.

So, like the Falcons in the SB last year, Jax had a lead, shriveled up under pressure, played not to lose and let TFB their prize away?

No, no -- it's a league conspiracy!  "The refs" were on their side!

Pretty much. There really is no secret to beating the Pats, but every time the other team panics and shits the bed

Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be proud.
