Taro T Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 More like if they play a really good team, they win and if they play a mediocre team they look like crap and lose...almost as if they get really up to play good teams and not so-so teams about the same as they are. 18-19-4 is the record of "a really good team?" Quote
darksabre Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 I feel like I've watched enough to be comfortable concluding: It's much more about the style the other team plays than the Sabres getting up for "good" teams, taking it easy on "bad" ones. Mhm. We match up well against some teams. That's about it I think. Quote
3putt Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 It's Cal O'Reilly. You add that kinda firepower it is most unfair to the opponent. Quote
Eleven Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Good call! Great call. I didn't see the game, but, man, based on what I see on the Twitter ... Is Lindy's job secure in Big D? I'm guessing not. I'm going from six to midnight pretty quickly now... Mhm. We match up well against some teams. That's about it I think. Dallas has Amerks-level goaltending. Even Lehner would have found a way to cover up on Eichel's first goal. Quote
Taro T Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Great call. I'm going from six to midnight pretty quickly now... Wouldn't that be something if he was brought back next year? Quote
Huckleberry Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Looking at those Dallas goalies, I'm sure glad we gave a 1st for Lehner. Quote
Eleven Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Wouldn't that be something if he was brought back next year? Oh, wouldn't it?! But I don't know that this is the right team for his system. He needs at least one solid goaltender so that one of his defenders can pinch. The Sabs don't have that right now. (And Dallas doesn't even come close.) Quote
darksabre Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 I don't want Lindy back. I don't want to deal with this place when he gets fired again. Quote
Taro T Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Oh, wouldn't it?! But I don't know that this is the right team for his system. He needs at least one solid goaltender so that one of his defenders can pinch. The Sabs don't have that right now. (And Dallas doesn't even come close.) He did alright last year w/out a goalie. And if Lehner ever relearns how to stop a breakaway, he could be good enough for a couple of years. Quote
thewookie1 Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 We have 2 Sabres teams, one that's very good, and another that sleepwalks. We need to kill off the latter so we get the good team all the time. Quote

That Aud Smell Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 @Eleven: I put that there just for you. Thanks for obliging. (Wait - was that a troll?) I was unaware of Dallas's goaltending woes. Am I right that the team's save percentage is sub .900?! Quote
Sabel79 Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 .899 as of before today's game, I think. Good thing they're both getting paid eleventy-billion dollars.* *Salary information may not be accurate. Quote
Norcal Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Top to bottom this was the best lineup they iced all year Quote
inkman Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Great call. I'm going from six to midnight pretty quickly now... Dallas has Amerks-level goaltending. Even Lehner would have found a way to cover up on Eichel's first goal. Ullmark is better than those bozos Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Thanks for posting this, wook. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 That Reinhart feed on the Eichel goal was... akin to... And with that, Mark Renton had fallen in love. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 ENNIS!!!! WOOOHAAAA, what a fkn comeback! Well I'll be... Welcome back Tyler That's a nice start there, Tyler. One of these teams came out to play from the start... Anna has been waiting for this: Quote
Brawndo Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Anna has been waiting for this: Well done Doohickie, well done Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Well done Doohickie, well done Meh. Found it on FB. Quote
nfreeman Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 I didn't see the game, but, man, based on what I see on the Twitter ... Is Lindy's job secure in Big D? I'm guessing not. I watched most of the game and had the same thought. They look freaking terrible on defense -- i.e. not like a well-coached team. More like if they play a really good team, they win and if they play a mediocre team they look like crap and lose...almost as if they get really up to play good teams and not so-so teams about the same as they are. I kinda think we're seeing the same thing we saw in the 2nd half last year -- the opponent sees the close-to-DFL Sabres on the schedule and takes its foot off the gas. It's Cal O'Reilly. You add that kinda firepower it is most unfair to the opponent. Very nice. Quote
Thorner Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 That Reinhart feed on the Eichel goal was... akin to... And with that, Mark Renton had fallen in love. He's gotta be the best passer on the team. He'll find himself among the premiere passers in the league soon, if he isn't already. He's now equaled his assist total from all of last season. Looks like Eichel could catch McDavid for goals soon. And he's missed half the season to date. (Granted Connor has more than a few helpers ;)) Quote
qwksndmonster Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Oops. Didn't know we had a game today. Super psyched for Ennis! I love that guy. Quote
