Doohicksie Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 2-5th round picks for our rentals in a weak draft. *yawn* (I know. It was sarcasm.) Quote

Winston Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Twitter hinting that Shattenkirk will be traded to Washington. Quote
French Collection Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Bob McKenzie just discussed it on TSN. No paperwork yet but sounds like a first, a second and a roster player. Quote
Scottysabres Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Bob McKenzie just discussed it on TSN. No paperwork yet but sounds like a first, a second and a roster player. Wow, for a rental Shatty? Well, if it's Washington they are stacked. Quote
Thorner Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Wow, for a rental Shatty? Well, if it's Washington they are stacked. And it's all for naught. Cause Crosby. Poor Caps :p Quote
Brawndo Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Confirmed: #stlblues return for Shattenkirk is 1st in 2017, conditional 2nd in 2018 and forward Zach Sanford, as @Real_ESPNLeBrun reported. Quote
Winston Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 The rental price paid for Shatty and Hanzal seems just about the same.. I know which one I'd rather have Quote
WildCard Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Good for the Caps. That's basically 2 seconds at the worst. They need to win a Cup this year, and outside of the Pens they can fly through. Great move by them Quote
Brawndo Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 The 2nd Washington is sending to St Louis is so conditional that the Caps already traded it Quote
French Collection Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Plus the Caps keep Shattenkirk away from other Eastern teams. Quote
WildCard Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Plus the Caps keep Shattenkirk away from other Eastern teams.A good point. That was one of the reason Minnesota went so hard after Hanzal too Quote
WildCard Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Anyone else amazed that Hanzal got more than Shattenkirk? All season and all offseason, for the past two years really, defensemen have been a huge trade target and have demanded a big return. Then the best on the market goes less than a 30 year old two way forward? ...How?? Quote
spndnchz Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Twitter hinting that Shattenkirk will be traded to Washington. Yup Listings so far: http://www.tsn.ca/tradecentre/trade-tracker Enough conditions on the Shattenkirk deal to make your head go BOOM! Quote
Thorner Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Anyone else amazed that Hanzal got more than Shattenkirk? All season and all offseason, for the past two years really, defensemen have been a huge trade target and have demanded a big return. Then the best on the market goes less than a 30 year old two way forward? ...How?? It's Hanzal. He's so hot right now. (I'm sorry, this joke is being rolled out a lot, but you tee'd this up too well to resist) In seriousness, it does seem a little peculiar, but I have no idea why the returns worked out like that. Would have guessed for it to be the exact opposite. Quote
Sabre fan Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 I am kinda amazed that St. Louis got so little for such a great d-man. The two "prospects" don't sound to be anything to exciting (one is like 26 years old) and of course Washington's 1st pick is not much better then a 2nd from us. Why we couldn't have sent them two of our lower-rated prospects which is essentially what St. Louis got and our 1st for such a great d-man is strange. St. Louis gives away a top 2 d-man for not much of anything and they are just a few point sup in playoff hunt so the move is even more strange. And Washington is in their conference and have to face them alot. Strange how little St. Louis got... Quote
ct fab Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 Common sense - because we are sellers and not buyers. Did you notice we just lost to the team in 30th place then 29th. Why trade anything for shattenkirk when he signing with the NYR after this season anyway? All he would do is hurt our draft position cuz we're out not the playoffs with or without him Quote
