Huckleberry Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I mean I like Dougie in the offensive zone, he could give our 2nd PP unit a boost. but moneywise, Bogo has to go then. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Hi! Your buddy here was about to be turned into orange goo. He picked a fight with a Doug. An especially dangerous Doug called Hamilton. Is he finally becoming a better all-around player? Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 This team needs a Turgeon/LaFontaine type deal to take the next step. I was just thinking that maybe what they need is simply the maturation of of their young stars and prospects. And a 2nd pair D. Quote
thewookie1 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Bieksa has a NMC so I wouldn't take him in any trade, due to the whole protection thing with the expansion draft. I'd take Stoner though. Quote
Drunkard Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 If it is not enough, so be it. He has another 5 years at 5.75. He won't be a top pairing here. Frankly, I think our best chance to get a potential top 4 guy is at the deadline. Anaheim is going to need cheap scoring help at the deadline and is bursting to the seams with D and top D prospects. They also have cap issues, and expansion issues. We an help. We trade them Kane, eat 1/2 of Kane's deal this season for Theodore and Bieksa. We can afford the extra year on Bieksa's deal because we get rid of Kane's salary, plus Franson comes off the books. I'd even do the deal for Montour. You can't just retain half of Kane's salary for this season. It you eat half of his remaining salary for this season, you have to eat the same amount for all of next season as well. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 There is nothing in the CBA that limits how long you can retain salary for other then 50% of the players cap in a given year. The CBA doesn't say if you retain salary, you retain that % for the remaining of the term of the contract. Quote
Drunkard Posted January 12, 2017 Report Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) There is nothing in the CBA that limits how long you can retain salary for other then 50% of the players cap in a given year. The CBA doesn't say if you retain salary, you retain that % for the remaining of the term of the contract. http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-retained-salary-trades/ The 3rd bullet point in this article states that the retention can not be altered from year to year. I'm pretty sure that means if you retain 50% one season you have to retain 50% for all years remaining on the contract. Edited January 12, 2017 by Drunkard Quote
