WildCard Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 You know we should. Out of such an expensive market for defensmen, let's take a swing at a young guy who's market value is low and a team we can trade with Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I'm all in favor of it, except that he goes by "Dougie." Deal breaker. Quote
Brawndo Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Ok I'll bite what is your trade proposal? Quote
Derrico Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I'm all in favor of it, except that he goes by "Dougie." Deal breaker. Exactly. Nobody over the age of 12 should go by Dougie. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I would rather bring back Dougie Gilmour. I'm all in favor of it, except that he goes by "Dougie." Deal breaker. Exactly. Nobody over the age of 12 should go by Dougie. Maybe it's some kind of shout out to that other Dougie. Quote
nfreeman Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 please please please don't suggest Zemgus/Foligno/Gionta/other spare parts for him... Quote
pi2000 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Nylander, Reinhart and Ristolainen for Hamilton and Gaudreau. Quote
WildCard Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 Risto is better then Hamilton and Nylander may well become better than Johnny Quote
pi2000 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 This team needs a Turgeon/LaFontaine type deal to take the next step. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Nylander, Reinhart and Ristolainen for Hamilton and Gaudreau. That ... is way, way too rich. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Nylander, Reinhart and Ristolainen for Hamilton and Gaudreau. Value is off here. The difference between Risto and Hamilton is very similar to the difference between Gaudreau and Reinhart, and then there's a Nylander on our side for no reason. You'd need to add that Tkachuk kid and then a small piece on our side, probably. And that's just to get the value equal, I definitely want no part of this deal even though I looooooooooooooooove Johnny hockey. Quote
Sabel79 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 This team needs a Turgeon/LaFontaine type deal to take the next step. But they didn't really take the next step after that deal... Quote
That Aud Smell Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 But they didn't really take the next step after that deal... they were fun to watch, but - yeah. Quote
thewookie1 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Nylander, Reinhart and Ristolainen for Hamilton and Gaudreau. This makes us worse. Hamilton isn't a 1D where as Risto is becoming a 1D. All the rest is merely window dressing. Cups require a strong D, and this trade proposal makes us no closer to that goal. Quote
Taro T Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 But they didn't really take the next step after that deal... Only because of injuries, ill luck, & Muckler's stubbornness. Even w/ ALL that working against them they still took the eventual SC champs to OT 3 times and lost all 4 games 4-3. :censored: Quote
Weave Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Only because of injuries, ill luck, & Muckler's stubbornness. Even w/ ALL that working against them they still took the eventual SC champs to OT 3 times and lost all 4 games 4-3. :censored: Yup. Injuries to the two most dynamic players in the league at the worst time possible kept that trade from being the next step. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Kane, Kulikov, and our 2nd this year for Hamilton and a prospect and we eat half of Kulikov's contract Edited January 10, 2017 by GASabresIUFAN Quote
Thorner Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Kane, Kulikov, and our 2nd this year for Hamilton and a prospect and we eat half of Kulikov's contract Wouldn't be enough. Burke apparently really likes "Dougie" and says he's not gonna trade him. Would take a huge return. Quote
Huckleberry Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Wouldn't be enough. Burke apparently really likes "Dougie" and says he's not gonna trade him. Would take a huge return. Dougie is overpayed a bit for me, and unless we can ship off Bogo and his 5 mill, I don't need Dougie. Quote
Thorner Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Dougie is overpayed a bit for me, and unless we can ship off Bogo and his 5 mill, I don't need Dougie. We can find our own Doug, on the roof of a Vegas casino. If he's not claimed by the Golden Knights. Or eaten by a tiger. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 If it is not enough, so be it. He has another 5 years at 5.75. He won't be a top pairing here. Frankly, I think our best chance to get a potential top 4 guy is at the deadline. Anaheim is going to need cheap scoring help at the deadline and is bursting to the seams with D and top D prospects. They also have cap issues, and expansion issues. We an help. We trade them Kane, eat 1/2 of Kane's deal this season for Theodore and Bieksa. We can afford the extra year on Bieksa's deal because we get rid of Kane's salary, plus Franson comes off the books. I'd even do the deal for Montour. Quote

I want no part of Bieksa, but I do like Montour and Theodore. I'd even go Kane for Montour and a pick. That said, Kane's been playing well but how long can he stay out of trouble and healthy. They can't afford to take Kane off our hands without giving us a contract back and that is the reason for Bieksa. Quote
