WildCard Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 So is Ennis coming back? Where does he play if he does? Do Bailey and Baptiste stay? Quote
Iron Crotch Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Hallelujah! I feel confident Grant will clear wavers and be back in Rochester where he belongs. Hopefully this means Tyler Ennis is back very soon. Ennis - O'Reilly - Okposo looks better to me than Carrier - O'Reilly - Okposo. I don't mind Carrier, but he isn't ready for top-6 minutes just yet. That Aud Smell Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Godspeed, Mr. Grant. We will always have the 2016 preseason to remember fondly. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 @TSNBobMcKenzie TOR claims Curtis McElhinney from CBJ. Derek Grant (BUF) on waivers. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 75 career games and zero goals. That is almost inconceivable for a Center. I assume this means our Centers going forward are O'Reilly - Eichel - Reinhart - Girgs. That is as strong down the middle offensively as we've been in years. Not sure how that affects the team defensively. Quote
French Collection Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I believe Bailey is still up with the Sabres, he may have to go down when Ennis activates. D-Lo will stay for the year, unless traded but his days are numbered. Quote
Samson's Flow Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 ... makes it better. Seriously I would much rather see Bailey or Carrier out there than Grant. His supposed strengths were PK ability and faceoffs, but the PK is dead last and the 4th line doesn't get enough shift starts to make it worthwhile. Quote

Not sure how that affects the team defensively. The rest of this season I'm not sure either. In a couple of years I think this is an unbelievable centre group both offensively and especially defensively. We all know about ROR. Girgs also has good defensive instincts, it was his lack of scoring that always concerned me. Reinhart was a great 2 way centre in junior hockey. In the gold medal game in his WJC draft+1 year Canada made sure to have him out at the end of the game leading by a goal. Jack is the only defensive liability here but obviously he's the heart of the offense. The wingers are coming. This team is about 2 years of maturing and 2 good defensemen away from being a really good team. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I had no issue with his play. He did everything asked of him. There is just not room for him on this Sabres team. I think he will not be claimed and will be a good addition in Rochester. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 We must be keeping Samson at center then, right? I hope Ennis can pull it together, I have little confidence that he will though. Quote
Taro T Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 They said on GR (so consider the source) that Lehner is sick & a goalie is getting pulled up. I'd guess presumably Ullmark. Not sure why they wouldn't do an emergency recall on a keeper if that's the case. Guess Carrier & Bailey are both healthy. Hope they're both in tonight. Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Who is the 4th line center now? Sam is back with Jack, Z is in for Larsson. Ennis? You have to feel for Grant. This was probably his last and best shot to prove he is an NHL player. Oh well. Edited January 10, 2017 by GASabresIUFAN Quote

Meathead Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 75 career games and zero goals. seventy five games for a center. you would think one would have at least bounced in off his ass by then Quote
Randall Flagg Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Claimed by Preds. Wish he could have played for Rochester. If the knuckleheads GMTM and DDB hadn't been fooled by a couple of preseason goals they could have actually executed that plan. He should never have played a game up here. Quote

He would still have had to pass through waivers. If he got claimed after not scoring for half a season, he could just as easily have been claimed after a hot preseason. sodbuster Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Good for him. One less player standing between us and lineup nirvana. Quote

David Poille is just about the only GM who grabs players off waivers these days. Poille keeps them around for a week or two then waives them again. Quote
woods-racer Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 The Matt Ellis of Sabres players for 2016-17 is gone? Someone please shed a tear. Someone ???? Quote
