ubkev Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Sabres vs Bruins in Beantown on the last day of the year. Discuss! Quote
Sabel79 Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 I got nothing, other than night shift giving me the merciful option to sleep through this one. Go Sabres, I suppose... Quote
Thorner Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 While last game certainly could have been seen as a "must win", this one seems to be even more so. If they win in regulation, it's 6 points back still, but 3 games in hand. Same as before the Boston games. A loss here and it's double digits, before New Year's Day. Gotta win. Play like your season is on the line. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 New years eve.. The last day of DD short lived sabres career.....let it be so. I have 0.001 percent faith that we win this one.... But I won't be watching, I'll check in here for updates and rants, throughout the eve Quote
pastajoe Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 I'm in Boston visiting my son. We were hoping to go to the game, but I can't justify paying $200 for a ticket. Been checking all the ticket sites for a couple weeks. Quote
LTS Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 It's all day hockey here. 1pm Sabres... 3:30 USA vs. Canada Man... at least one of those games has to go the way I want it to right? Meanwhile I'll be cooking and prepping for visitors tonight. The good news for me regarding the last game is that I was pretty sober when the Sabres scored their goals and by the time Boston was tying it up and winning my focus level was not the same... Hoping for a win! Quote
That Aud Smell Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Today is New Year's Eve. Or nah? Is it like a vigil mass - 4:30 or later? Quote
bunomatic Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Must win... Is this not New Years eve eve ? Quote
Huckleberry Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 cool don't have to stay up tonight, which is good, I got to be at work at 06.30 :p Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 I'm really impressed with Bostons defenseman. They rebuilt the fly and have a good young core there with an aging and obviously slower Chara. Carlo is not 19 and pulling top minutes for them. So Guhle is too young? Quote
DarthEbriate Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 I sense something... a presence I've not felt since... Jack's first game in Boston. Quote
Brawndo Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 A loss today would give the Sabres their first season series sweep ever. Quote
ubkev Posted December 31, 2016 Author Report Posted December 31, 2016 Is 1 p.m. New Year's Eve? Well, I've had a drink in my hand since 11am. So yeah, it's new years eve. Quote
bunomatic Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Apparently DB is intent on cooling down Baileys torrid scoring pace in the A by slotting him in on the 4th line where he will have to earn his time. Thats the reward for working your asss off in Rochester ? Playing alongside Grant and D-LO ? DB is thinking outside the box on this one. Quote

It's freaking pointless to have Bailey with those guys. Stick Girgensons with them. Quote
Norcal Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Lets Go Boysss!!!! these stupid chowdaheads!!!!!! Quote

Let the kid play quality minutes with quality linemates. Quote
SwampD Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Came here for this. It's freaking pointless to have Bailey with those guys. Stick Girgensons with them. Why? Is it really that unheard of to give a kid fresh out of the A some sheltered minutes to get used to the NHL game and build some confidence? Am I the only one who thinks giving him top line minutes against top line opposition is really myopic,… and stupid? And Eleven, with all this Bylsma talk in every thread, I finally understand how you felt about us with all the Lindy talk towards his end. Of course, it took sixteen years for us to get to this level. Quote
woods-racer Posted December 31, 2016 Report Posted December 31, 2016 Love afternoon games. May Chet, Muffy and the spawn enjoy the afternoon at the game eating cotton candy and figuring out who's driving who to soccer practice this week./s (if that's even necessary). Quote

The point is that he can't set up guys who can't receive a pass; he can't do anything offensively with those two on his line. He doesn't need to be protected, and if he did, Kane or Foligno could do that job just fine. Quote

Somewhere he could use his speed and skill to maybe have an effect on the outcome of the game rather then playing with hands of stone types that slow the game down just by suiting up. Quote
