sabres703 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Has the NHL decided if they are going to use the new playoff format this season or next, and what amount of playoff teams should there be?
Taro T Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Same format as in the past for this year - 3 division winners and next 5 teams in each conference. There is talk that they are considering going to 20 teams next year. I hope they don't. It would be another opportunity for the anti-hockey media to knock hockey. "See, the regular season means absolutely nothing because EVERYBODY gets into the playoffs. yada, yada, yada" Dave.
BiggPDaddy Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 There are already some teams that make it to the playoffs just at or barely over .500. If you make it 20 teams, there will definitly be teams who are under .500 that will make the playoffs. I think the NHL has to slow down a bit with all these changes all at once.

And one less thing hockey bashers can say. Now, go watch your celeb poker tourny. :P
