shrader Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 I have no idea what to make of this. I just watched a woman at work fill up her water bottle about 90% of the way with cold water. Then she topped it off with warm water. Quote

Winston Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 I have no idea what to make of this. I just watched a woman at work fill up her water bottle about 90% of the way with cold water. Then she topped it off with warm water. My closest friend at work does this because she prefers the water closer to room temp than cold. Out at restaurants she'll ask or water with no ice. One day before I knew any of this, I offered to fill her water bottle because I was heading to the break room to fill mine. When she answered with very specific directions instead of a simple "yes," I had a similar response to the one you posted above. Quote

It wasn't bad with my old glass bottle since it'd warm up pretty quickly. I now have an insulated water bottle and the water stays cold too long (1st world problem), so I do exactly that. Also, I drink a lot of green tea, which is better around 175 deg F than the near-boiling water out of the water machine so I put a little cold in first, and then fill with hot. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 I do not like drinking cold water either. I had a friend in High School who's older brother had very sensitive teeth, so sensitive that he drank his beer warm ... piss warm. I just can't imagine. Quote

I just can't imagine. Yeah, that's gross. Any drink that I'm drinking for taste or for social reasons is fine cold, but I drink a lot of water and I drink it to hydrate, and it goes down easier and is thus more refreshing when it's room temperature. Randall Flagg Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Hey, does everyone remember that NHL draft game that dudacek did two summers ago? The purpose was, if I remember correctly, to get a general ranking of every player in the NHL, all positions? I remember accidentally causing some problems by trying to build a lineup instead of just focusing on best player available. Anyway, is there interest in something like that again for this summer? We could do the dudacek thing and just get a "Sabrespace consensus NHL player ranking" or we could try to build teams, or both, or neither. It's far enough removed that the list is probably going to look a lot different, which is why I bring it up now. I'm looking for that thread as I type this Quote
darksabre Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Best change the name, though. (xkcd 1807) Jo's parents bought us that Alexa puck thing. I have no idea what the point of it is and we'll probably never take it out of the package. Quote

I've only interacted with one at a friends' house. It's kinda amusing to be able to say "play some Journey" or "order 18 cases of Preparation H", but otherwise I'm not sure what I'd do with one. shrader Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 Back during the spring, I had to sign a form that essentially acknowledged a change in rate and return it to the insurance provider. They were bumbling idiots and I wound up having to send it twice. The second time I was on the phone with someone as I sent it to her, waiting to make sure she received it. She acknowledged it. A couple days later, they also called my wife to confirm that they received the form. Fast-forward to yesterday. I get a letter from my mortgage provider saying that there is no evidence that I have an existing home owners policy. They say they have to buy insurance of their own and then charge me for it. So I immediately get on the phone with the insurance provider and they confirm that the policy was canceled due to not receiving that form. So needless to say I'm not very happy about it. I tell the guy that I sent it twice, once in April and once in May and I have the emails to prove it. He looks through their system, "right, here it is, 5/5". So they got the from well ahead of time but never bothered to do anything with it. He expedited everything and it should all be taken care of within 48 hours, but I'll believe it when I see it. I have absolutely no idea how they could boot this so badly. Quote

In that case, it was the lender being stupid, one phone call by me to the insurance co. fixed everything. Sounds like you need a new insurance company. I wouldn't put up with that. Quote

Ogre Posted July 13, 2017 Report Posted July 13, 2017 As I contemplate my current state of mind, it occurs to me how fascinating I find radicalism. We are all radical in every single aspect of our daily lives without even realizing/acknowledging it. Facebook is one GD radical setting. Water cooler talk? Golf course yada yada? Sitting in the hot tub with our own self resolve to do the justice that our minds tell us is just? Yep. We're all guilty. Quote

Weave Posted July 13, 2017 Report Posted July 13, 2017 What is a reliable store to buy descent furniture from? Pretty much every decent sized store has a price/value line, a mid line, and a higher end line of furniture. Decent is going to be a function of your budget. Quote
