So I'm trying to book a Buffalo hotel for may 26th. Any reason why they are all booked? The marathon? Def Leppard concert? Neither seemed to make much sense.

So anyone got any outside of the box ideas for accommodations and entertainment late night on the 26th in Buffalo? This hotel thing is really screwing up my night.

I'm not a fan of the Downs, but then again, I'm not a casino guy at all.  The parking lot is always full so maybe I am missing out.  On the nights the horses are running it can be a good time if you like that sort of thing.  We've been known to bet on the ponies there occasionally.  The restaurants in the Downs are hit or miss.  The wings at the bar in the casino (34 Rush) are good.  the rest of the food is meh.  There is an Italian joint in there as well.  Don't remember the name.  The food in that restaurant is pretty solid.  It's been a long time since we've eaten in the Paddock, so I'm not sure how good it is these days.

There are a couple of spots in Batavia worth hanging out in of you are staying at the Downs.  Bourbon and Burger, and a new brewery that's decent called Eli Fish.  Center Street smokehouse has mediocre barbeque but a good bar that is usually crowded on weekends.

Can't say I've heard anything good or bad about the hotel there.

If you stay there, give me a shout.

I think I have mentioned our issues with Freddie (my wife named him that ... she's awesome) our squirrel.

A guy from Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control just left.  During his walk around assessment Freddie ran up the sloped roof to where the addition roof meets the older existing roof and scuttled right in where the two meet.  We had decided that that was an entry point (1 of 3), but it was so nice of Freddie to demonstrate it for us.

Got a quote ... $1,500 bucks + HST.  It's not like we have a choice.  It is a big problem.

And since I work out of an office in my home I can (and will) claim a portion of that fee as a legit business expense.  Thanks CRA ...  :flirt:

EDIT TO ADD:

Did I mention that Freddie is a girl and is with child(s).  So, time is of the essence, here.

I'm losing steam.

I did the Night Riders Sunday night pub crawl for the first time since moving.  I'm about 3 miles closer to the start now, so that makes it a bit easier getting home at the end.  I probably shouldn't have stopped for a nightcap at the neighborhood bar though.

Then when I got home my son's dog (we were puppysitting this weekend through Monday morning) decided he'd had enough of the cat and went after him.  The cat can take care of himself, but the ruckus was disruptive.  Since the cat was on the bed with my wife I ended up sleeping on the couch with the dog.... although he got up several times during the night to look for the cat.

Then the morning started with our dog throwing up about an hour before my alarm was set to go off.  Since I wasn't in bed my wife assumed I was already up and called me in to help deal with that (which meant she stayed under the covers and I dealt with all of it).

So here it is lunch time, and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open.
