Samson's Flow Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 I really think his one timer needs to be a staple of the PP, yet it often seems as more of a last resort than anything. It seems rather than being in an Ovechkin type shooting role, Eichel ends up as the guy with the puck feeding others. I'd much rather see ROR or Samson holding the puck and trying to feed Jack for the one-timer from the half wall. Quote

Mig22 Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 , Bogo+Kuli have looked like an unmitigated train wreck lately, but it is encouraging that their PDO supports some improvement. Then again, even an improvement in PDO from ~96% to 100% wouldn't bring their 28/30 up to anything we would consider objectively good - right? It would just be less bad. I'm seriously hoping that it's just rust from their time off because they have been horrible. While Jack and Lehner didn't look good on the tying goal on Tuesday night, it was Kulikov that got worked to lose the puck behind the net. So yeah, more puck luck and getting into game shape should only help this mess. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 That's right Jagr taught Kulikov a thing or two on that tying goal, much live he has done for a very long time. Jagr is awesome. Now tied with Mess for #2 all time. I saw him play many times when we lived in Pittsburgh in 1990, which was his rookie season. I think he could play forever. He would have passed Mess awhile ago had he not spent 2, or 3, years in Europe. Quote
sodbuster Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 My Bills season ticket buddy scored some free seats tonight, so it looks like I'm going. Fun fact: the Sabres are undefeated when we are both in attendance. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Kermit rocks!! Definitely. I also find Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem to be exemplary practitioners of modern American music. OT - Has anyone else noticed that... with the purchase the Muppets, Lucasfilm (Star Wars and Indy), and owning the rights to Lloyd Alexander's novels... that Disney sort of acquired your childhood? I'm seriously hoping that it's just rust from their time off because they have been horrible. While Jack and Lehner didn't look good on the tying goal on Tuesday night, it was Kulikov that got worked to lose the puck behind the net. So yeah, more puck luck and getting into game shape should only help this mess. Kulikov did look pretty bad last game and Bogosian rusty, as well. But just before they both went down earlier this year, they were looking solid. Give them a few games to get back up to speed, get in synch with each other as a pairing, and watch as we have two bona fide top pairings (just like the Blackhawks recently). I'm not breaking up McCabe-Ristolainen any time soon. And we ice a cagey 3rd pair -- with Gorges playing the Roszival role. A Fflam is undaunted! Quote
TheAud Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Sakman, To answer your question in that great post... Anytime you take the time and effort to put something like that together a GDT is a great place for it. If it's spurs another thread, good on you for generating it. Roger that Quote

TheAud Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 With respect to the content of your post, Bogo+Kuli have looked like an unmitigated train wreck lately, but it is encouraging that their PDO supports some improvement. Then again, even an improvement in PDO from ~96% to 100% wouldn't bring their 28/30 up to anything we would consider objectively good - right? It would just be less bad. Well, to get to 100% they'd need a PDO of ~104% for a 10-15 game stretch. If that happened the GF% would go up quite a bit. I really hope that happens! (Could probably calculate it using an estimate of expected shots on goal and so forth but even though I am off work today I don't have THAT MUCH time on my hands.) To me, both those guys are in the same mold - big, fast, hit hard, pretty good skill but don't have a 'high end' hockey sense so they end up out of position a lot, sometimes quite badly, which sort of negates the shock and awe of their speed and power. Would like to see Bogo paired with someone like...oh, I don't know...wait for it...maybe...Mark Pysyk! Actually, would like to see Bogo with Gorges on the 3rd pairing and Kukilov with Franson or Falk on the 2nd. Quote

From my perspective I think Kulikov is a pretty good defensemen, and is just coming off injury. I have seem enough of Bogo to think he is the true anchor on that pair and to officially send in my application to join the Bogo Bunkertm Quote
