Let the Fire Bylsma Watch begin

It's garbage because, according to Jeremy White, Eichel was chosen by the players to present the case against Bylsma to Murray on their behalf. And, ya know, it completely ignores the history of professional sports: stars have major power. It's just been so long since Buffalo had a star who could wield that type of power, people forgot what it's like.

Are you missing the point here? If Eichel said he won't sign an extension if Bylsma is retained, that's hardly a statement on behalf of the team. It's a very selfish Eichel statement. It is classic coach-killing.

Love it when any young person speaks out against the older generations, it's throwing a hissy fit.

Sorry, dude, players don't play their "own system" as a protest. Not any of the all-time greats and certainly not Jack.

Flagg is going to be insufferable next year when we have more players that are actually capable of puck possession and when he sees it, we'll hear, "See, now this is a system! Bylsma sucks!"

What do you mean by this? I'm pretty sure Bylsma wanted Jack to carry the puck a lot, he knows how skilled Jack is with it. I don't think JACK was the one tossing the system to do what he wanted, he already was allowed to do that.

Example-wise though, Crosby literally dogged it until his coach got fired just last season.

Murray's judgment is clearly in question now, but he gets to hire the next foreman?

We've been over this already. Murray shares some of the blame for the failures of Bylsma to establish a culture, earn player trust, and use his players correctly. Murray tried to treat Bylsma like an adult and not micromanage him. That's admirable. But it clearly didn't work. He bought what Bylsma was selling, the players sucked it up for a year and a half because that's what you do, but the whole thing finally fell apart. It happens

Even though Jack didn't say this in public, and somehow it leaked, it's going to follow him around via The Buffalo News for a long time, I'd imagine.

Agreed but we are already seeing the power Eichel has in this organization. Remains to be seen if that is a good or bad thing.

Last summer when Buffalo was courting Vesey, there was a tweet (from someone that I follow/trust) that Jack didn't have a lot of good things to say about DD to Vesey. This was the first that I heard of friction. Unfortunately, it may have factored into the Vesey decision. Anyone here get recruited by their friends or family to go and work for a company where they hate their boss?

If there was any truth to this, it was unfortunately short-sighted, but it does show the power of Eichel. Vesey would have looked good in Blue and Gold (minus DD, of course.)

That sums it up... next! (Although it is possible that Pegula pushed DD onto Murray when Babcock fell through and Murray had to just deal with it.)

I will say right now, I will follow Eichel to another team rather than stay a Sabres fan if he walks because management is inept at any point in his career.

Other than the Leafs, Flyers, and Bruins. Then I'll just stop being a fan entirely.

You should just give up now then. Only a matter of time til any given NHL team does something that you vehemently disagree with.

See: my post about the Leafs' possession numbers last season. I know you don't want to believe it because it flies in the face of your "it's all the roster, Bylsma is fine" world view, but team possession is heavily dependent upon the system the coach runs.

I mean, I've said before that it's very possible Dan was the most attractive option available at the time after we lost out on Babcock. He talked a good talk. I can't blame Murray for that too much. Worse coaches have been hired by better GM's, ya know?

Don't worry man, I won't have much time to post here until my classes are done and quals passed.

Watch out for that TrueBlueGED though.

Per Hamilton

Inside sources have told me that Eichel has no desire to sign a contract extension this summer if Bylsma remains the coach, so quite a bit hinges on this meeting.

Bye Bye Dan

It's Hamilton, so I don't believe this for a second, but if true I hope they trade that young punk.

This isn't "something", this would be letting the best player since Hasek left, and potentially anywhere from Top-5 to best in franchise history, leave. He should be a Sabre for life. If he isn't I will no longer be capable of withstanding the level of ineptitude of Buffalo Sports.

I don't think it will happen, and it will be a while before it does, but I am quite serious about it. Eichel is my last hope for Buffalo Sports relevance, if he goes, I go with him.

Lol because player agents never run smoke screens for PR reasons

They certainly do.  And reporters have bad "inside sources" sometimes, too.

I think the better tweet is the one I posted on the last page--Lemieux was a "coach killer" before he ever won anything, too.

Eichel agent says no truth to reports he won't negotiate extension with #Sabres with Bylsma as coach.

Well, of course the agent issues a denial. He knows how stooges like Harrington are going to present this in public.

With respect, I'm very, very happy you aren't GM ;)
