Let the Fire Bylsma Watch begin

Did Fleury really collapse in the playoffs or was it Byslma turtling and letting him get shelled?

Oh, he collapsed. Couldn't stop a beach ball. That's not on Bylsma. The extent to which Bylsma can be held accountable for the goals against in the playoffs are that his system was producing defensive breakdowns like we've seen the past ~10 or so games.

The extent of Fleury's collapses was that had he not had them, there was a not insignificant chance that Crosby and Malkin's talent was such that they may have been able to overcome DD's coaching in the playoffs for the 2nd time, on the way to the cup. Fleury actively sabotaged at least two series I remember.

So with us well and truly missing the playoffs, I don't even the most ardent optimist still believe there is hope. What happens to Dan? Do people really think he will go? This team is on track to perform worse than last year (both in points and positions).

However, Murray has not addressed this teams weakness in 2 seasons now, and on top of that has been trading away what serviceable D-men we had. I'm still not quite over Pysyk being traded. I was reading a Q+A with the Panthers equipment manager and Pysyk was mentioned multiple times as a low maintenance player who is an absolute professional - the guy clearly had a lot of time for him. But I'm sure 3/4 of a season of a misused and under performing UFA is just as good.

In other news, does Buffalo have a paper that would ever use the headline 'Bye-lsma' for when he is fired?

Even if it wasn't luck...how much rope should a Cup nearly a decade ago, with a different team, really buy him?

Look at the roster Bylsma had too.  With Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, et al on the team,   probably you or I could have coached a Cup win.

I think of Bylsma as somewhat analogous to Barry Switzer and the Dallas Cowboys;    Mediocre coach wins a Superbowl with a superstar roster.

Fleury is not a great player...he is average at best. Who cares if he is a #1 pick, he definitely hasn't lived up to it. Edited by matter2003

No Fleury fan here, and totally misses the point - substitute any other big names from the 2009 roster or just leave it as Crosby alone.  'Nuff said.

They won in spite of the coach, not because.

Plus the season they won, he was only coach for a few months. Usually a coaching change mid-season puts some fire in a teams play anyway (e.g. Islanders this year)

I watched the lifeless team play last night.  2-8-2 in the last 12.  This is all the ammo GMTM needs to punt DD.  Sadly, watching Lehner play his heart out and the defense and offense fail him again was just pitiful.  What is also obvious is that GMTM's "plan" isn't working.  3 seasons isn't the GMTM era, we should have more then 9 decent players.

You say CAN and we say DAN. CAN. DAN.

Now just the Muffies.

I like it in theory, but it needs some tweaking to something like FIRE DAN. Otherwise you run the risk of CAN DAN starting to sound like DAN CAN and we all know he can't. You don't want to let him think he has any fans left. He sucks and he should know it.

Plus if he turns his coaching around we can use the same chant.

I say DAN you say CAN:

DAN - CAN

See, you can't let him even have the illusion of support. Crush his spirit and maybe the fans can effectively grind him down like a little bitch. Maybe he'll even quit (wishful thinking).
