That's my point. Other then Bowman, no coach since the NHL first expanded in 1967 has won a Cup with more then one franchise. Not DD, not Quenneville, not Sutter, not Julien, not Torts, not Babcock, not Carlyle, not Hitch, none. Most Cup winning coaches were also retreads. Guys like DD and Babcock, who won in their 1st gig are the exception.

Maybe DD will be the next coach after Bowman to win with a 2nd franchise, but history says someone like Ruff or DeBoer or McLellan will win before DD (or Babcock) does.

Babcock's Ducks won the SC?

So Kariya getting creamed was just a bad dream?

Tortorella might have a shot this year to beat all of them.

When the players start saying it is when I start wanting to break things. And I've listened to enough interviews this year. The "winning is hard" line has caught on in the Sabres locker room. I've heard O'Reilly say it. I've heard Jack say it.

No. No No No No No.

We know winning is hard. We know that they know that winning is hard. We don't need to be saying it. It shouldn't be a talking point. It shouldn't be in the lexicon of "team speak".

It's important that players, coaches, etc, carry themselves a certain way. We expect that in a lot of jobs. No one would want me to show up and to a job interview and be all "well, life is hard".

Bylsma makes too many excuses that elevate our opponents. It's never "well, we did this bad". It's always "well, the other guys do this thing really good and we couldn't stop em".

Wahhhhh Dan, Wahhhhhh.

Loser.

You're right Dark. I especially hate when coach has said pregame we have to be very careful against these guys. Its teaching them to be reactionary instead of going out and dictating play. We've seen what they are capable of if they play guns ablazing. They can win. I like team defence as much as the next guy but someday I hope we're in the other teams head.

So let me get this straight.  (Almost) Everybody agrees he is not going anywhere this season barring a total collapse, right?  So this entire thread is just...what?  Outrage porn?  Learning new ways to say that you don't like the coach?  A truly internet phenomenon.

I think he will do good work for the team, may not get us to the Cup (given the 10-1 odds against even a very good team each season).  They will improve, are improving, and he's our boy for a while.  The rest is just playing sit-and-spin.

Not me.

What, precisely, makes you think GMTM will ax DD prior to season end?

I'm a Buffalo expat, so I have zero input. I'm just along for the ride.

Thank you for successfully broaching a subject that has stuck with me for a while. When the hell did everyone become an expat?

The source is somewhat questionable but they lay it out pretty well.

I don't think you count as an immigrant if you move within a country...

I simply don't agree.  It's a matter of opinion, of conjecture, of faith, and dare I say, of hope.

Fine.  Then I'm a Buffalo emigre (my only point being that I no longer live in the region).  Let's try to leave the politics of semantics out of it.

It's a figure of speech, not a literal definition.

I will be very surprised if DDB is canned before the end of the season, but I think if they really fall off the table then it could happen this summer.

What is the bolded based on?  Their improvement over last season is nonexistent-to-marginal, based on wins and losses.

The five come-from-behind wins and significant jump in goals for in this calendar year show that there's more talent than they showed in the start of the season. In entertainment at least, if not much in results.

I don't care what you call yourself, I just can't remember seeing or hearing the term expat until the oughts.
