josie Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 The appeal of BoJack. I love this show. I've been following Lisa Hanawalt's art since she was making weird ass stuff for Vice a decade ago. It has loads of wonderfully sh!tty puns, never lets anyone off the hook, and is infinitely quotable. Never found another show that takes me from snort laughing to ugly crying so often or frequently. It's a good emotional purge every once in a while. Def one of those "it's a cartoon but not for kids" shows. Quote
pi2000 Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 "Manhunt: Unabomber" was fantastic. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 I've tried to get into BoJack a few times but it's so darn depressing. Someday. Quote
Doohicksie Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 I've been following Lisa Hanawalt's art since she was making weird ass stuff for Vice a decade ago. It reminds of Matt Groening and the Simpsons: I was reading his cartoon (Life in Hell) in Los Angeles local newspapers (like the Santa Monica Daily Breeze) in the mid-80s before the Simpsons were on TV. When I moved from there in '87, a friend got me a Groening book, Work is Hell, as a memento of my time in L.A. I still have the book. I've tried to get into BoJack a few times but it's so darn depressing. Someday. It's not for everyone. Some people just don't like dark humor. Quote
Thorner Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 The appeal of BoJack. Watched the first episode yesterday, finally. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted September 16, 2017 Report Posted September 16, 2017 I'm trying not to pass judgement on mother before I see it, but freakin' Darren Aronofski is dating Jennifer Lawrence. Ew. (No offense, 11) Quote
biodork Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 I'm trying not to pass judgement on mother before I see it, but freakin' Darren Aronofski is dating Jennifer Lawrence. Ew. (No offense, 11) I literally just read something online about how it's getting killed by the critics and came here to see if you loved it. :P  Quote
JujuFish Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 I've only seen one Aronosky film and it was awful enough to convince me never to watch another. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Black Swan was good, although pretty weird.I like Black Swan a lot. Aronofsky's psychological horror slant is so up my alley. I haven't seen a movie in theaters in 3 weeks. AHHHHHHHH (It's probably more like 1.5-2, but it feels like forever) Quote
Thorner Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 mother! actually got decent reviews. I thought it was just ok. The acting is amazing from Lawrence, but I'm not a huge fan of allegorical movies. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Well. That was a movie. Darren Aronofski, just get a damn therapist. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 This film was Darren Aronofsky screaming "I'M NOT OVER RACHEL WEISZ!!!" into an echo chamber for 2 hours. Fitting that it came out right after Disobedience premiered. Rachel Weisz is living her best life. Quote
Wacka Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 I was watching the Simpsons tonight and Itchy was throwing daggers at Scratchy with the Saber Dance playing. He then throws a hockey player at him with Buffalo on his jersey. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 F Cinemascore? Ouch!Well deserved. Talk about a film that has no business getting a wide release. Quote
shrader Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Nice. It makes me want to go and dig up the old hockey episode. Quote
Weave Posted September 19, 2017 Report Posted September 19, 2017 Just finished watching episode 1 of PBS's Vietnam. Alot there that I never knew. I think this is going to be a whale of a series. It isn't hard to believe that we've been making the same mistakes since the 1940's. But still, wow. Quote
