Just rewatched most of “Goodfellas.”  I still think what I thought before:  it’s kinda overrated but with some great scenes and great performances, especially by Joe Pesci.

GoodFellas and Casino both run out of gas. It's what keeps them just below Godfather and Godfather Part 2.

Best shows I binge watched this month

Better Call Saul..... Ozark Season 3 and The Boys on Prime............ All 3 were very good. B+ or higher rating on all 3. All 3 had GREAT finales.

Killing Eve is pretty dang good also. Jodie Comer is awesome in this series.

I really liked GoodFellas when it was called GoodFellas. When it was called The Wolf of Wall Street, it was just okay. Then, when GoodFellas was called The Irishman,... it was absolutely awful.

The Irishman was the worst thing to come out of 2019. It may be the worst thing of all time.

Finished Castle Rock. Very well done. Both seasons were terrific. Looking forward to season three.

Hmmmmmm.  Never quite made it through season one, though I don’t remember why not.  Might have to start this one up again.

Scorsese crapping all over Marvel movies (with some justification) when he himself made Goodfellas and Casino within three years of each other and then absolutely could not help himself and dove back in for WoWS and The Irishman (some points awarded for casting decisions made in WoWS, though who among us wouldn’t have paid double to see Pesci and DeNero in the lead roles there) later on is just delicious.

TFW No GF ...

A glimpse into an aimless, lonely, soulless, empty world ...  is there a generation, a demographic?   If so, how do we rescue a generation, a demographic?

I’m going to need time with this one.  Thought starter ...  is it better to have become a whole human being without the internet, and find it later ..  or is it better to have become a whole human being with the internet, given that it’s here.   First conclusion ... it is a starkly different developmental path.

Adding ... there is some redemption at the end.   These are some well read young men.   Joyless, but well read.

I've actually followed an account on twitter for a year or two, a small (almost personal) account, that posts a lot about philosophy, and actually wound up in that documentary/movie/whatever it is. Haven't watched it

Because of coronavirus boredom....

Name your favorite movie that has a major twist ending.

I’m Shutter Island.  Sixth Sense is must watch,  but I can watch Shutter Island far more.

Excellent inquiry.  Sixth Sense was great.

The Usual Suspects.  Though Memento was fantastic as well.

The Third Man.  Orson Welles was good at movies.

The Michael Jordan documentary on espn is flawed but still really good IMHO.

Well, yeah. Jordan had final cut. Give Isaiah or Ewing final cut on it lol.

For the record I f'n hate Michael Jordan and I always have. And yes, I'm still watching it basically so I can curse out the Knicks for letting the Xavier McDaniel walk.

Certainly it would've been different in someone else's hands, but I think there are quite a few scenes where MJ looks like a jerk.

In any case, though, his intensity is still there and very compelling IMHO.  (I think he has whisky and a cigar going pretty much all day, every day, just to take the edge off.)

"I hated Isiah."

"I took offense at being compared with Drexler."

His reaction when he was asked about Pippen's migraine in game 7 vs the Pistons.

Great stuff for a documentary.

Oh there's definitely tons of great stuff in there. I loved all the early stuff with Rodman!

I'm gonna start referring to Steve Kerr as "The Passenger". What a career that guy has made by simply being there. I hate that he's on the cover with Jordan, Scotty, Phil and The Worm. Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc must think that's a crock.

Some more great quotes from MJ:

- when asked who gave Sam Smith all the inside dirt for his “Jordan Rules” book:  “It was Horace [Grant, who strenuously denied it].”

- Immediately after a legendary 1992 dream team scrimmage, pitting a group led by MJ against a group led by Magic, with plenty of trash-talking between MJ and Magic, and MJ taking over down the stretch for the win, without a trace of a smile or good humor, to Magic:  “how’d you like that ass-whuppin’ we just gave y’all?”

I watched every Bulls game Kerr played with Jordan. He was no passenger. He was a deadly shooter FT and 3pt. He hit many key shots.
Also his post Bulls career has surpassed Jordan’s.

The only significant flaw is that I dislike the bouncing around in time. I would have preferred a chronological historical documentary.

He was the 6th best player at best on those teams. He's on the cover shot for recent relevance because now he's Steph Curry's passenger.

When you add up all his rings, he will end up in the top 10 in NBA history for total rings. Enough said.

Through nothing he did. Hence his new nickname, The Passenger!

Carried by greatness for his entire career. Well, Curry is carrying him. Jordan just dragged him along after he beat his ass.
