TrueBlueGED Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Oh man. The picture of Murray and Pegula shaking hands is easily the funniest thing I've seen this week. Quote

biodork Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sabres-gm-tim-murray-signs-contract-extension/ lol - it looks like GMTM was trying to get up and run out the door and got surprised by the camera. Quote
sodbuster Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Absolutely zero emotion. I love it. All business. Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Mike Harrington @BNHarrington 8m8 minutes ago GMTM on thePegulas: "They've been very supportive. I can't think of 1 time I've gone to them w/an idea that they said no or even questioned" So, at least if there's meddling, it's not reverse-meddling :w00t: Quote
Trettioåtta Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Hrm not sure how I feel about this. He has yet to make this team actually better Quote
Randall Flagg Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Hrm not sure how I feel about this. He has yet to make this team actually better He can be fired at any time. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Hrm not sure how I feel about this. He has yet to make this team actually better Technically false--he took over mid-tank. We're objectively better than we were then. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Parenteau, Pirri, Yakupov, Stempniak all with goals tonight. All players I had interest in as offensive depth. *injures arm patting self on back* *glares at Tim Murray* Quote
Trettioåtta Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 My concern with Tim Murray is that he has a list of 'his' players and basically only wants them. Instead of taking advantage of opportunities available Quote
North Buffalo Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Too many years still not convinced esp aft tonites hot garbage. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Too many years still not convinced esp aft tonites hot garbage. The number of years are irrelevant, if Pegula wants to, he can fire Murray at literally any point during the contract. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I feel we can be critical of Murray while still being fine with the extension. As Flagg said, Pegula isn't afraid to swallow money. But secondly, this really is only Murray's second offseason of trying to improve the team. Realistically speaking, a GM should get a run of 4-5 years before judgment is passed IMO. Quote
LGR4GM Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) In here we see the Tim Murray in his natural habitat. Ever perceptive, the Tim Murray spots our camera man and his survival instincts kick in. First he freezes as he assesses the situation. Then after a brief pause, he proceeds on like normal. - British Nature Documentarian Edited October 14, 2016 by LGR4GM Quote
WildCard Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I read it in that accent even before I saw the bottom  Quote
beerme1 Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I'm happy abouty this. I want GMTM here longer than Darcy. I'm glad he likes it here. Quote
3putt Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I like TMs refreshing candor, but I honestly would have went the other way on most of his major decisions except drafting Sam and Jack. I won't rehash the past but I am not seeing the obvious way forward in his plan. If you are not patient enough to bet on all the draft picks we accumulated and trade them for "NHL" ready players, you can't then stand pat this off season and not continue to acquire "NHL" ready players to plug obvious holes when there is no one in the system to step in. I get contracts and cap, but then you have to deal roster players. And yes there were UFAs available. I am firmly behind this team, it is just tough watching other teams and seeing the plan and not seeing it here. And that includes Toronto. Quote
