darksabre Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 This is where Vasilevsky takes Bishop's job. Bookmark this post. The may keep him for playoff insurance, but he will not be in Tampa next season. Interesting take. I like it. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Speaking of the Lightning. Remember Drouin, well he is back his usual self, in the good sense. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/brophy/jonathan-drouin-tampa-bay-lightning-1.3907214 Quote
dudacek Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Drouin is a worthy comparable for the Samson watchers. Quote

Well, there are some. ----- EDIT TO ADD: What a waste of an 8,000th post. Edited December 23, 2016 by Sabres Fan In NS Quote

Winston Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Blue Jackets about to win their 11th straight, smoking the Pens 7-1. They've picked up points in 26 of 31 games this year. Raise your hand if you saw this coming....... Quote
Randall Flagg Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Matthews might pass Laine scoring goals by the time the season is over. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Insane random stat: James Mirtle @mirtle 36m36 minutes ago Jagr needs 75 more points to have as many points as Gretzky had assists. And yet, here I sit, continuing to think that Crosby could be in the vicinity if he played during the firewagon era. Quote
Ducky Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Matthews might pass Laine scoring goals by the time the season is over. Matthews scored tonight to go 16-9-25. Laine scored tonight to go 19-11-30. The Jets have 3 players with 30 or more points and still won't make the playoffs. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Matthews might pass Laine scoring goals by the time the season is over. It will be close. Laine's SH% has started to drop off a bit (he was at like 26% at one point) - that should tighten the matter up considerably. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 I so wish that Jagr was a Sabre. To say nothing of the 1st 7,999. :P(Since you don't drink, I'll   for both of us. ;)) :flirt: Cheers ... Quote
Ducky Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 What surprises me is that he has more assists than Matthews. Quote

Marvelo Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Amazing what the Columbus Blue Jackets are doing so far (22-5). Kudos to Torts, who the Sabres groomed to be coach but was never good enough for them. Quote

Sabel79 Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 I'm amazed by Columbus' run this year. I'm waiting for it to fall apart. It has to, right? There is absolutely no logical reason it's happening in the first place, so probably? Unless it doesn't... Quote
Randall Flagg Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 I'm amazed by Columbus' run this year. I'm waiting for it to fall apart. It has to, right? It will a bit, but if you use underlying metrics to predict where they might end up, it still looks like they'd be a top 10 team in the league. It is a loooooot of players having career years though. Taro T Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 I'm amazed by Columbus' run this year. I'm waiting for it to fall apart. It has to, right? It's pretty much the flip side of last year's awful season. Except for coaching, there was no reason to expect that team to be nearly as bad as they were. Quote
darksabre Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 It's pretty much the flip side of last year's awful season. Except for coaching, there was no reason to expect that team to be nearly as bad as they were. So the question is, is this the real Columbus? Quote
Taro T Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 So the question is, is this the real Columbus? Probably not. But this is a lot closer to what they really are than last year was. Quote
Ducky Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) If asked before the season if Torts would still be coaching at Christmas I would have given it a 50/50 chance and look at him... To be fair to Matthews, the Jets have played 4 more games than the Leafs. I compare the Jets to the Leafs and Sabres and the Coyotes with the Coyotes and Leafs maybe being a bit behind in their rebuild by a year or two. Really good prospects, inconsistent play, one or two bad contracts and impatient fans. Calgary is a bit ahead in their rebuild as is Deadmonton but don't start me on that team. I think in 3 or so years the 4 teams I named will all be in the top teams of the league. Look at ow fast things change, of the top 10 teams right now the only Western teams are Chicago and Minnesota. The game is getting faster every year. Edited December 23, 2016 by Ducky Quote
