Randall Flagg Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Nelson's point play has been good, but he hasn't been noticeably better than Franson in the d-zone, and some may argue he's looked worse there. I think he winds up in the AHL to start the year, crushing my offseason dreams. It's fun watching Jack do whatever he wants out there. Quote
Claude Balls Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Unfortunately it usually doesn't change much during the season either Yeah, you kinda got a point there. Unless you throw a janitor in goal like the Sabres did against the Leafs last week. Edited October 5, 2016 by Claude Balls Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades. I think he's making the team. I think the Sabres will gave good depth as the season progresses. Quote
Rasmus_ Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 So we all can agree Samson is alright :P Quote
Eric in Akron Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Said no one Never. I know it's early, but this little thread continues to weave its way through Sabre lore. I know it is a reoccurring theme with the team but we've turned the roster over and new coaches in place... you would figure it would've been addressed. Both power play chances tonight looked unpracticed. I understand it's preseason and chemistry, but the same is true for Carolina and their chance had 5 shots on it... some good chances. Ours had none. Quote
dudacek Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I will be very surprised if an Okposo, O'Reilly, Reinhart, Eichel and Risto isn't a top 10 PP this year. It was close last year, not that people really noticed. Quote

It was close last year, not that people really noticed. Assuming you mean people outside of Buffalo. Hell, our PP scoring is probably the clear #1 reason there was such improvement in the standings. Hoss Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Can we go back to calling him Samson? I think he's earned to be called what he wants. :) Edited October 5, 2016 by Hoss Quote
Eric in Akron Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I hope you are correct dudacek, because that would be the difference between playoffs or golfing in April. Quote

russ Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 You'd think. You'd also think an NFL team could inadvertently make the playoffs in a 16 year span. I don't get it but I'll continue to root for both my teams with rose hued blinders on Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I really hope Des is not a regular on this team. I love the guy, but. The who now? Quote

Loads of chances, they just need to finish better. Quote

Hell, our PP scoring is probably the clear #1 reason there was such improvement in the standings. And it was basically all because of the first minute of the power plays, when the first unit was out there. Interested in seeing what the second unit ends up being this season. Or maybe I'm not. :S Quote
3putt Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I understood to whom he was referring. That was my way of expressing disbelief. If Fasching keeps making those plays along the boards, I want a better finisher playing with him. Can't knock his effort but he is the very definition of mucker. Quote
russ Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 How many of these rinks fit inside a regulation nhl rink? Quote

Just having Ennis to be the wheel on PP2 is going to be better than anything we've seen there in three or four years. Quote
WildCard Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Is Jack moving his feet? From the first few shifts I saw, he was Quote
Randall Flagg Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I understood to whom he was referring. That was my way of expressing disbelief. Oh, yeah he's bad. Ennis-ROR-KO Girg-Eichel-Samson Kane-Larsson-Fasching Foligno-Grant-Gionta I would rather see this than any variation with Des in, as that would likely require shifting Girgensons back to center, putting Kane with Eichel, and spreading weak wingers throughout the bottom six, while making the Eichel line likely less effective. I'd also put Bailey above him, I think. Maybe Moulson if his peppy playing this preseason is to be believed. Deslauriers is not a good hockey player. I love the guy, but top-12 forward on a good team he is not. Quote

Doohicksie Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Oh god, this camera angle is gonna kill me It takes some getting used to, but there are some great views of the shooting lanes from this low. Quote
3putt Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Fasching on the pk. He is getting a lot of looks. Quote
