dudacek Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 I know the consensus here is he's done, but that doesn't chance the fact he's signed for three more years at $15 million. If you are Murray and Bylsma, what do you do? http://sabres.buffalonews.com/2016/09/24/sabres-notebook-moulson-lot-prove-scrimmage-results-shorter-muse-stands-tall/ Quote

Hope he retires in a year. Quote

Randall Flagg Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 I spend most of my time pretending he's not on the Sabres. I'm not familiar with how buying him out would affect our cap, but I assume it's not a good thing. Quote

Hope he retires in a year. I generally agree, but I think there is zero possibility he retires with $10 million left on the table. Does anyone know the cap consequences if the Sabres buy him out after this season? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) There is essentially zero reason to ever buy out his contract. It saves at most like a million on the cap, but extending the hit 2 years when we'll need cap space more is a pretty poor tradeoff IMO. I generally agree, but I think there is zero possibility he retires with $10 million left on the table.I think there's a better chance he retires than Brandon gets fired :p Edited September 25, 2016 by TrueBlueGED Quote
dudacek Posted September 25, 2016 Author Report Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) I remember thinking around this time last year that Moulson would be the sidekick to Jack, the same way he was to Tavares. And I still think the old Moulson could have been - he got to the right places and had the hands to finish what Jack created. I don't recall that combo ever getting much of a look, and Matt's lack of speed being the most obvious reason why. He just seems to be an incredibly poor fit for the fast game Bylsma preaches. This concerns me on a higher level than just Moulson. We're not a very fast team right now. Quote

Eichel, Kane, Girgensons, Ennis...we're OK, but not great. This is where Bailey, Baptise and Nylander blossoming can change the identity. Quote

Total hindsight, but maybe not. Tavares isn't a speed player, and he sure as heck wasn't his first couple years. He may never have been a good fit next to Jack. Quote
Huckleberry Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 I believe in Matt Moulson Me to, he'll have a 20 + goal season for sure. Quote
nfreeman Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 I think there's a better chance he retires than Brandon gets fired :P Now that sounds like a SabreSpace wager. Quote
Thorner Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 I believe in Matt Moulson Tell that to Harvey Dent. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 If there's a Moulson in front of me.... I typically drink it. Quote
ubkev Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) I believe in Matt MoulsonGreat slogan, Harvey. Damn it, Thorny. That's what I get for not reading ahead. Edited September 26, 2016 by ubkev Quote
LGR4GM Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 lol a couple people picked up on the reference in all seriousness I expect 15goals and 20 assists from Matty Mo this season. I think he knows what he has to do. Also last year, he was snakebitten with some of the worst puck luck I have ever witnessed. Quote
woods-racer Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Hard for me to believe that the man just went to crap in one season. He's got skills that got him this contract. If Ted Nolan got more out of Matty Mo than DD, not convinced Matty just flamed out. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 I think Hot Daniel should arrange for a movie night during training camp - a private screening of Old Yeller. Moulson will get the message. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Now that sounds like a SabreSpace wager. Pretty sure it would turn into the Kassian-Hodgson of Sabrespace wagers, however  Quote

That Aud Smell Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Harsh. Yeah - maybe a little too much there. Besides: Old Yeller isn't exactly apt -- Moulson's just the old gray mare; he isn't rabid. Quote
