TrueBlueGED Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 Different kind of breakout. Anyone who didn't laugh at this needs a new funny bone. Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted September 25, 2016 Author Report Posted September 25, 2016 Cole Scheinder! Break out camp so far, anyway I think he is a dark horse to make the team as the 13th forward. For a local guy, 26, who has been kicking around the minors this would be awesome. Once on the roster who knows what he can develop into. He certainly has good hands. Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted September 25, 2016 Author Report Posted September 25, 2016 someone once said their brain hand finally figured out the game, but then their bodies couldn't play anymore. Maybe he figured it out in time I'm rooting for him. I love for local guys to make the team. I think it's great for local youth hockey because it gives the kids someone to look up to that they might even know. Sort of if he can make it so can I. I'm a little older and grew up in the Amherst Rec leagues and we used to talk about the Brownschidles. Now the kids have Patty Kane of course, but so many other local kids who have done well (Stempniak, Kaleta, Orpik etc..) I'm also rooting for Bailey to make the team for much the same reasons (and because I think he is ready to make an impact in the NHL) Quote
qwksndmonster Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 Larsson's line is going to be scoring a lot more than people think. I wince every time I see people projecting the 4th line for him. Quote

I wince every time I see people projecting the 4th line for him. Well, I hope the rest of the team is so good at forward that Larsson ends up there and does great. Have to have four good lines to be good, so it's not bad if he holds down the fourth line. Look on the bright side :) Quote

Thorner Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) That would be nice, but I don't think it's realistic with our roster. I could see it happen if Ennis and Kane both manage to have really good seasons. If Girgensons isn't forced to play a top 6 LW role, and Larsson and Girgs are our 3rd and 4th line C, I could see Girgensons potentially earning that 3rd line spot. Leaving Larsson to 4th line centre duties. Whether any 4th line we ice is able to be productive is another story, when it looks to be saddled with Moulson and Deslauriers on the wings. Larsson would help, maybe Bailey ousts Deslauriers. Moulson - Larsson - Bailey could be good, if Moulson is somehow, someway invigorated. Edited September 25, 2016 by Thorny Quote
dudacek Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 No. I'm assuming you don't want Ennis there because he and Jack will be fighting over the puck. So basically, it's Girgs on Jack's left? Ennis ROR Okposo Zemgus Eichel Reinhart Kane Larsson Gionta DEslauriers Foligno Bailey Carrier COR Quote

So basically, it's Girgs on Jack's left? Ennis ROR Okposo Zemgus Eichel Reinhart Kane Larsson Gionta DEslauriers Foligno Bailey Carrier COR Though I don't have a ton of hope for success, I'd like to see Ennis get extended time there if Zemgus flops--a high octane offensive specialist second line could work if Bylsma can consistently put them out in the right spots. But yea, Zemgus is my first choice, not only because he doesn't demand the puck on offense but also because of his defensive ability. Separately, almost all likely 4th line combinations make me want to vomit. Quote
nfreeman Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 I want to see Kane on LW with Eichel and Reino -- both because he can skate and finish and to add an element of danger so the kids don't get messed with. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 26, 2016 Author Report Posted September 26, 2016 How did this thread become another lineup thread? Do you think a healthy and non-incarcerated Kane gets back to the 30 goal + level playing with Jack and Sam? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) How did this thread become another lineup thread? Do you think a healthy and non-incarcerated Kane gets back to the 30 goal + level playing with Jack and Sam? Well, I think it's hard to separate the two, as potential for breaking out is dependent upon opportunity, which is dependent upon lineups...and here we are :) Edited September 26, 2016 by TrueBlueGED Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 28, 2016 Author Report Posted September 28, 2016 Well, I think it's hard to separate the two, as potential for breaking out is dependent upon opportunity, which is dependent upon lineups...and here we are :) This is correct to a certain extent, but once a player is on the roster, I think anything can happen. McGinn going into camp looked like our 3rd line LW at best heading into the season. However, he worked his way up the lineup, (as Moulson worked his way down) and he became a very effective top 2 line player for us and later Ana. I'd even argue he was our breakout player last year other then Risto, and that is what I'm looking for in this thread; a vet, even young vet, who takes a leap in play beyond our expectations. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Moulson scores 30Not even in the AHL. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 29, 2016 Author Report Posted September 29, 2016 Moulson scores 30 I go and agree with you about RIsto and you post this. :o Quote
StuckinFL Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 I think we saw flashes in Lehner last year of what he'll be consistently this season. There's nothing I love more than an athlete who is supremely focused on proving their talent to not only to everyone else but also themselves. After last season's many setbacks I can't see the game to game ebbs and flow really knocking him off his game. Though it could be wishful thinking, but I must say that it feels incredible to truly believe in the Sabres again. Quote
Taro T Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Reinhart has the breakout season. I'd expect Eichel to top last season, but I'd expect next year will be his real breakout. But I'd still expect Eichel to end the year w/ more points than Reinhart this year, but they'll be close. McCabe takes a small step back but comes back strong in year 3 as well. Quote
pi2000 Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 I go and agree with you about RIsto and you post this. :o I thought it was obvious that Ristos defensive struggles were holding Moulson back last season. If Risto can improve defensively with a 5 year deal, Moulson should thrive offensively.... or continue to struggle because its a game for faster players now and he's no a very good skater. Quote
