This is the kind of thing that comes out of a siloed power structure. Not enough communication with peers for healthy push back. If there was, someone would have screamed "what in God's name are you thinking". I haven't heard any stories from anyone in the organization at the time that questioned the process.

Ive been toying with the idea of an offshoot of the Sabres numbers thread and making a favorite player of each number thread. It occurred to me that there would be almost no players on my list that wore the slug or goat head. Those years feel like a different team to me.

I could be wrong but I don't think those came in until the current unis.

The pits were a different color on the slugs.   So it was the beginning of the differently-colored armpit era, but it was not grey.
