inkman Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Bailey scored from fedun and nylander. Quote
inkman Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Casey Nelson scores on the PP. Might have been tipped by Schneider. Catenacci with the EN goal to seal it. Quote
inkman Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 (edited) From Democrat & Chronicle Reinforcements fuel Amerks, for now http://on.rocne.ws/2f0SQvd Reinforcements arrived for the Rochester Americans on Friday. The questions are, 1) how long will they stay, and 2) do the newcomers alleviate the deficiencies that were so evident on opening weekend? The answer to No. 2 is yes, at least to some degree, as evidenced by Friday's 5-2 victory over the Toronto Marlies at Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial. As for question No. 1: no one knows that answer yet.Right winger Nick Baptiste was returned to the Amerks after a six-day recall to the Buffalo Sabres, and right winger Hudson Fasching and defenseman Casey Nelson came along with him. With one mid-afternoon announcement of player reassignments, there was an instant upgrade to the forward lines of Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliate. The top line had Cal O'Reilly at center between Cole Schneider and Baptiste. They accounted for four goals in the 5-4 opening-night win over Hershey on Oct. 14. Evan Rodrigues was at center between Alex Nylander and Fasching, and Catenacci played center between William Carrier and Bailey. Edited October 22, 2016 by inkman Quote
Cereal Posted October 22, 2016 Author Report Posted October 22, 2016 Thanks for the updates, fellas. So, there are two AHL team relocations for the 2016-17 season: The Arizona Coyotes apparently purchased the Springfield Falcons, moved them to AZ, and they are now the Tucson Roadrunners. Springfield Hockey LLC bought the Portland Pirates, moved them to Sprignfield, and they are now the Springfield Thunderbirds. Other notes: Tucson is now in the Pacific division, meaning there are now 16 teams in the Western Conference (and only 14 in the Amerks' Eastern Conference). The five California teams (plus Tucson now) will continue to play a 68-game season, while the other teams play 76. It looks like Vancouver is the only Western Conference team that still has their farm club out east -- the Utica Comets. Also!: The AHL also changed the usage of home and away jerseys for the season. Before the Christmas break, home teams wear light jerseys and after the Christmas break, home teams wear dark jerseys. For the past several seasons, the visiting team wore light jerseys and the home team wore dark jerseys. Prior to the change in 2003, it was the opposite for many years. Ogre Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 Ullmark is a wall and Cole Scheinder leads AHL in scoring as Amerks go to 3-2 on season My only criticism of Ullmark so far? He needs to recognize how long a line has been out there especially with the long 2nd period change. He's not freezing the puck when he has the chance to let the line change. Quote
