Hoss Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 I thought 82 was meant as a nod to his dad, since his brother wore 71, so Marcus went with 82 (next sequence sort of thing). I recall him saying he didn't really want 17. Nah? Nope. He actually filed the papers to change to 17 just prior to the lockout and it never came to, likely because the league was more worried about getting a CBA done. Quote
WildCard Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 You have to file papers to change your own damn number? Quote

Do you have to file papers to change your number? He wore 71 in juniors and in Roch. I believe he wore 17 for Canada. Seems like if he wanted to wear 17 for the Sabres, he'd have been wearing it. No one was wearing it for the Sabres when he was coming into the NHL. Quote

It used to even be in his Wikipedia page (referencing the same Rochester radio interview I listened to) but now it strangely (and falsely) states he "broke family tradition" and elected to wear 82. He went on Rochester radio before the lockout and said he had filed for the number change. It was posted to Twitter. I've looked for it recently but I don't imagine it'd be easy to find. Quote

Hoss Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 I wonder if the NHL has the same rules the NFL (well, really, the jersey manufacturer) about players having to buy off the remaining backlog of inventory in order to change numbers. That was a big deal when Adrian Peterson filed to change from 28 to 24 and was told he would need to. It would've been around $1 million for him to do so. He decided not to but publicly raged about it. Quote
beerme1 Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 I don't really give a about a guys number I've seen idiot numbers worn by all time greats. I did care about Foligno keeping 82 as I had bought the jersey already. I was yelling at him after a scrimmage or something 82 Foligno!!! back when there was a question about his number. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Sounds like the Sabres prospects got crushed, but Nylander had this sick snipe: https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloSabres/videos/10154445582672954/ Quote
Eleven Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 I don't think they were crushed, it was 4-3. Here's the game sheet: http://harborcenter.sportngin.com/game/game_sheet/14919295 If I can find a replay, I'll post it. Quote

Like a normal goaltender rather than a tight end. -Lehner is fully cleared medically. -Samson and Eichel are living together. -Samson said Jack is going to have to learn to cook and do his own laundry. -Samson once again spent the summer on power skating work. Omg if Sam Reinhart could skate even better this year... Rumor is that Lehner lost around 30-40lbs and has been working out for about 2 months now. Edited September 22, 2016 by LGR4GM Quote

Thanks for the info. The bolded is especially great to hear. If this team is making the playoffs Lehner is one of, if not the biggest factor. Behind him it's nothing but question marks. Quote

WildCard Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 (edited) Wasn't a big reason Leaner constantly hurt his ankle was because he was too big and putting stress on it? Edited September 22, 2016 by WildCard Quote
darksabre Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Wasn't a big reason Leaner constantly hurt his ankle was because he was too big and putting stress on it? I don't know if it was ever explicitly stated, but it's a pretty easy assumption to make. Carrying weight you don't need is hard on the body. Quote
K-9 Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Has Lehner lost his super powers? Can he still shoot lasers from the eyes? Seriously though, it sounds like he has rearranged his athletic and career priorities. Good for him. Quote
