josie Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 I say it every Games but good lord those 16 year old Chinese women's gymnasts don't look 16. They look 12. It's absurd. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 What channel are you watching? I have 5 channels broadcasting Olympic events, none of the are gymnastics. I've got women's soccer, men's whitewater, men's rugby, men's judo and men's tennis. Quote

JJFIVEOH Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 Livestream online http://stream.nbcolympics.com/womens-gymnastics-team-final Ah thanks, forgot about that. Guess I would have figured it out if I read the rest of the thread. Gonna fire up the Roku. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 Because Buffalo? I hate to even think it. Especially after that South Buffalo couple was all over NBC with their Bills flag. Quote
josie Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 So this Shang Chunsong's floor routine was bonkers. I don't often have my jaw drop, but she had a couple tumbling passes that were pretty mind blowing. She's not even the team favorite for it. And now Wang Yan is on. It's kinda scary good too. The Americans are just so much more powerful. The body differences are so amazing. Chunsong, 20 years old, probably silver medalist: Simone Biles, probable gold medal winner, 19 I am so fascinated how different they are and how it affects their routines. Both are under five feet- Chunsong is 4'7", Biles is 4'9" Quote
SwampD Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 Are we ever going to get a overall perspective camera shot in archery? Watching a closeup of the shooter, so tight I can count his nose hairs, and then switching to a closeup of the target is beyond painful. I have no idea how far the target is and therefor can't tell just how good they are. I think they just said this guy is from Elma NY. Pretty cool. Quote

I have friends on FB that are friends of his and keep tagging him in stuff. To you point, seems like an over-the-off-shoulder angle would be awesome. Quote
Neo Posted August 9, 2016 Author Report Posted August 9, 2016 I want to see Phelps and Lehner in a stare down. Quote
Hoss Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 Media bus shot while transporting passengers. Two injured by glass but nobody hit. http://dlvr.it/M0PZZk Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 I was worried about Ledecky for a hot second there at the end, but I shouldn't have been. And this is just funny: Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown 2m2 minutes ago Phelps was great and all, but still kind of rude that they're starting the next race now before Le Clos has finished. Quote
Hoss Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 Ledecky said she almost through up in the last 50 meters which might explain why she almost blew it. Quote

JJFIVEOH Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 I'm sorry, there is absolutely no way Chunsong is 20 years old. I did a search to see other pictures and it's not just one bad picture. They're all like that, if not worse. I feel creepy just doing it, like big brother just put me on some list. Quote
Claude Balls Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Gabby Douglas' brother rockin the Amerks hat at the Olympics. Wonder if he even knows the Americans are a minor league hockey team from Rochester, NY. Edited August 10, 2016 by Claude Balls Quote

I can kind of see it in their faces. The ones I remember being really controversial were the Beijing Chinese women's gymnasts- their 15 year olds were rumored to be more like 12 and 13, and things were overlooked because it was the home country pulling strings. I think a lot of it is genetics, looking young, but also the strict routines/diets they're probably on. No chance to go through puberty in a body that might not've changed much even under more normal circumstances. They just look kind of stunted to me. Doesn't stop them being incredible athletes, but you gotta wonder. No other team has such childlike contestants. Quote

That Aud Smell Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 What the US (young) women are doing in gymnastics is astonishing. Anyway. I frickin' love this .gif of Laruie Hernandez. This is apparently the pose she struck right before her floor routine. Just - awesome confidence. USA! USA! USA! Quote
K-9 Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 If the Mandela were a dance, what would it be? I'll have to give it some thought, but I'm gonna eliminate Irish clog dancing right off the bat. Apologies to Michael Flatley. Quote
