Hecht out "long term" with a knee again

I hope that is the case, but given the NHL's history, I just don't think we'll see much happen.

I think there is a little bit of a double standard for Canadian teams fighting for their playoff lives.

Look for the league to review this in a week when Toronto is really out of the running.

Tucker will not be suspended because:

1) The NHL sweats the Maple Leafs

2) As I have said for some time, the NHL has no rhyme or reason to their suspension rulings (as someone else pointed out, 3 games given to Orpik for breaking a guy's neck, and 2 for Briere for an accidental high stick...anyone see anything wrong with this?)

3) Call me a stereotypical "Buffalo conspiracy theorist," but the NHL doesn't give a crap about our team and never really has. As some of you already pointed out, look at how that goal wasn't even reviewed last night, they just said it absolutely didn't go in, even though it was clearly very close and subject to review. So it won't cause Colin Campbell to lose sleep at night if we lose one of our top players.

4) It sucks that Hecht is out, he is one of our top few players and no one on this team can play the all-around game he can, but watch the video...it pains me to admit this, but I believe Tucker's hit WAS NOT an intentional knee-on-knee hit. He had just gotten crushed by Grier and got up to throw a hit at the closest Buffalo player...that happened to be Hecht...the reason it was knee on knee is because Jochen deked to avoid Tucker.

NHL IS Toronto Biased: It's officiating offices located in Toronto and what is ONE (just one) good reason as to why the goal wasn't reversed? or atleast reviewed??? Just go look at the film and I'd be happy, but because it was Toronto...what?? your claiming that the wistle already blew? F- that!! Colin Campbell NEEDS to BE FIRED!!! He and his officiating crew blows, get new guys in there reffing to call this new game and NOT old refs who have been aclamated to the 'OLD' NHL..... Why not, in "The NEW NHL" not switch to "new" Refs?? These Refs are worse than blind bats. Tucker doesn't get a penalty for Unsportsmanslike??? WHY??? One reason...The refs SUCK!!! Just like Colin Campbell. F*** the officiating, caz they have certanaly done that to us Too many times in the past and will continue to do so~!

Again, video review is NOT allowed to determine if the whistle blew before the puck crosses the line.

I laugh about all the comments that the NHL loves the Leafs. If the league is going to, in effect, "fix" games to help the Leafs, why pray tell hasn't Toronto won the Cup in 40 years?!

It is not subject to review. NHL Rule 93 - Video Goal Judge

all of which makes the fact that they delayed the end of the game by five minutes to review biron's final save that much funnier...the whole arena was empty because NO ONE thought it had a chance to be a goal....et they were upstairs looking at it...JUST IN CASE.

Not sure what the problem is. Why was the review "funny"? "Just in case" is what the replay system is for. I think a lot of times the problem is poor communication by the league. The producer in the MSG truck should have immediately been told that the play was under review, so don't go to commercial. It would have been a helluva shock to come back from commercial and find out it was a goal. Was there an announcement in the arena? I assume there wasn't. Otherwise, Rick and Jim would have mentioned it, and MSG wouldn't have gone to commercial.

On a side note, I listed a sampling of some ridiculous descriptions of the Tucker incident that came out of the Toronto press corps. Well, here's a whopper from the Buffalo side. Buffalo News writer John Vogl wrote today that Tucker skated 75 feet to hit Hecht! Wow! Last time I checked, the neutral zone was 50 feet long. Tucker skated probably a little over half of that distance to get to Hecht. Let's say 30-40 feet. Sports writers ought to remember that their first duty is to report, not behave like fans.
