28 - not a bad number at all.

Man - we sure could use a sniper like Audette on Jack's wing.

I just went back and looked at Audette's stats, for fun - dude was probably 5' 7" and 175# (listed as 5' 8" and 190#, which, of course, means ...).

I seem to recall an interview where one of Audette and/or Rob Ray told a funny story about Ray advising Audette on the finer points of using his stick as a tool to buy space and respect throughout the league.

I used to live across street from the Audette's in Clarence when I was in my early 20's.    Nice guy, but I was surprised at how pudgy he was... he had a belly on him.    He had a young wife and just had a kid.. who turned out to be a pretty good hockey player aparently... http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=160328

Anyway, I once tried to convince him to fund a roller hockey facility my friend and I were trying to build out there not far from the airport.    He balked.   Smart man!

Which non-retired jersey numbers has the best history. I'm going to nominate "6", "10" and "30"

6, includes Schoenfeld and Housley; while 10 includes Ramsay and Hawerchuk. 30 includes Miller, Barrasso and Desjardins.

Thoughts?

Keith Carney?

I wonder how many other Sabre fourth rounders played 1000 NHL games.

Anyone remember who we traded him for?

I guessed and I was way off.

I remember being at a game in late March, maybe early April, 197x.

Hajt scored his first goal of the season.  Milt Ellis, normally so beautifully understated, made a big deal out of it.

So I asked my seat partner (this was my dad, because I was definitely in the single digits) why.

He explained the difference between forwards and defensemen, and then explained the difference between offensive defensemen and Bill Hajt.

And my hockey education was born.

Thanks, Dad.
