Norcal Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 hope so too,one reason why I wouldn't mind Bernier, he showed potential with LA, and Toronto usually isn't a good place to judge goalies. I think outside of TO he could be good. I'm sure there's guys out there that might surprise. I just can't think of any off the top of my head.Bernier could be ok Quote
Hoss Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 McKenzie: BUF still looking for a goalie. Sabres were in on Zatkoff, but he went to LA. Quote
apuszczalowski Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Gustavson is out, just signed a 1 year deal to back up Talbot in Edmonton for $800 k Quote
Norcal Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Its only a year. They have the cap space and don't need any more F right now. Quote
Eleven Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 How bout Ben Bishop? Â He might not be the Vezina candidate that some people hold him out to be, but he's not backup material, either. Quote

Eleven Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Best man starts. Â No, Lehner is going to be the starter. Â I'm not saying your idea is bad; that's just not what's going to happen in Buffalo this season. Quote
Norcal Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 If Lehner is the man, he'll start. If not Bish can hold down the fort a year. Quote

I get the concept, but Murray is not going to allow Bylsma to start Ben Bishop over the guy he gave up a first round pick for last year, especially when that guy was injured for most of the year.  It's just not realistic.  If it were October and Lehner had another long-term injury, I'm sure Murray would be all over it. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 I love having Lehner. I like his attitude and I like his style.  But not addressing the backup situation with somebody that can start if needed could turn out to be a serious situation. If he gets hurt again, of management finds they don't like his temperament, this team is in for trouble no matter what they've done to improve the rest of the roster.  Quote

Ideally i'd like a guy who has been held back a bit by their current team who's lookin to springboard a backup job into starterville. Quote
pi2000 Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Any old scrub tendy will do. Â If Lehner needs a rest you call up Ullmark to play. Â Â If Lehner gets hurt you call up Ullmark. Â Â Whoever backs up Lehner to start the season might not a single minute of action. Â The important thing for Ullmark right now is to play and play a lot. Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Enroth makes by far the most sense. However, it would make JJ happy, so I'm against it. Quote
Drunkard Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Aren't the Sabres required to expose a goalie to the expansion draft? If they picked up Bishop and didn't extend him wouldn't that require them to expose Lehner by default? I think they should sign whatever backup they can bring in to a 2 year deal. Quote
