Thorner Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 In light of other options available, I am growing more interested in a Nash addition. Particularly, as said, if we sign Vesey. Quote
North Buffalo Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 Flip Nash too third line and sign reasonable 1 year deal I am ok with, but be ready trade deadline to deal once Nylander is ready. Quote
3putt Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 Do you think Murray encourages patience in the fan base? No But that's not his job. Quote
Huckleberry Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) Trade kane Sign ladd, vesey and backes :P Edit: don't see backes wanting to leave the blues though. Edited June 30, 2016 by Huckleberry Quote
nfreeman Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 I'd like Backes, but have no interest in a deal longer than 2 years for him -- and I think someone will give him 4 years. I think Nash is now my preferred target for a forward upgrade -- he's a proven scorer and the risk is limited as he's only under contract for another 2 years. I'd still be happy with a trade for Fowler, but am skeptical in light of market costs for defensemen. Quote
K-9 Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 TBF, this sounds like they are not all in on Vesey. More so that they're focused on him right now, but have back up plans? i.e. they need to figure him out first From a practical standpoint, I think the Sabres need to proceed as if Vesey is not expected on the team. GO SABRES!!! Quote

dudacek Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 NoBut that's not his job. After decades of following the Sabres I'm pretty sure encouraging patience is Darcy Regiers job. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Jamie McGinn switched his Twitter pic back to his Sabres photo. Interesting. Quote
JohnnyK Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Detroit got worse this week losing Datsyuk, Montreal got worse long-term, Tampa will get worse because of the cap, Boston is determined to Sweeney-fy... Hell, if Murray won the Pysyk trade we've gained ground in the entire division. I disagree, Datsyuk is going to mother Russia so they freed up $$$, Montreal got Weber and Tampa has a great chance to win the cup! Quote

You might have the last one, but the first two? How did Detroit not get worse? How did Montreal not get worse long-term? Quote

CallawaySabres Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 So if we get McGinn, Okposo and Vesey, how does this line-up look? Are bodies and 2017 1st freed up to get Fowler? Quote
dudacek Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 One way I could stomach an Okposo signing is if it is in conjunction with a Kane for Fowler trade. The ducks did say they wanted a left wing who can score. And with douchebags like Kesler and Perry, Kane will fit right in. Quote
ct fab Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Sabres would have to retain. A lot of salary in a trade with ANA involving Kane and I would be okay with it Quote
WildCard Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 Sabres would have to retain. A lot of salary in a trade with ANA involving Kane and I would be okay with it Would we though? We'd assuredly be getting Fowler back, and Kane's contract is very cheap Quote

Okay, we can cuddle this weekend. Quote
Hoss Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Blue and dudacek - what's the case against giving Okposo that deal? I know there is one and am still not quite on board with giving it to him, but there seem to be plenty of reasons for giving it to him. Quote
dudacek Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) Not keen on paying my 6th best player 6.5. And he will be lucky to be our sixth best player in three years. (Or we will be unlucky if he's higher than that.) Edited July 1, 2016 by dudacek Quote
Hoss Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Reinhart, Eichel, Risto, O'Reilly. Those are my five better than him. That's a fair point but not a very convincing argument overall. My two biggest questions before giving a free agent a fat contract are: are you expecting a significantly changed role and does the team the player is coming from play a completely different style?
