JJFIVEOH Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Sorry JJ just tryin to make a funny. Ha, I figured you were. ;) With the kind of pull Jagger and Scorsese have, I can't believe they can't find somebody to pick them up for a 2nd season. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 Mag 7 was good. It didn't reinvent the wheel or accomplish anything special (like it could have), but it was a lot of fun. Action movies should take notes on the way Mag 7 depicted masculine sensitivity. All the characters were baddasses, but it didn't get in the way of them caring for other people and admitting that they enjoy one another's company. For all the diversity on display in the movie, it's a shame that they couldn't find more for the single solitary female character to do. It's also a shame that none of the 7 were women. Ethan Hawke's character Goodnight Robicheaux was my favorite. A confederate sniper with PTSD who was in the battle of Antitam and hisses when faced with conflict. I liked it when Goodnight came back and faced his fears, and I liked it even better when he died with his lover in the sniper tower, but his arc completion felt like a missed opportunity. In my ideal universe, Goodnight Robicheaux leaves and never comes back. He's seen too much and he can't stand to see more. There would've had to be a scene where he tries to get Billy Rocks to come with him, but Billy refuses to abandon Denzel and the town. I think that would've painted both characters in a more interesting light. I've been on a huge Arrested Development kick lately. Rewatched seasons 1-3 and finally watching season 4. Michael is just the worst. The satire is so perfect. The show feels like it could never ever exist in any time but the Bush Administration, and yet it still feels so modern with how well written and hilarious it is. I don't think I'll ever get sick of Arrested Development. Quote
dudacek Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 The original run of Arrested Development was perfect. What did you think of theNetflix reboot? I started watching, but it wasn't clicking for me and I never finished. Quote

It doesn't reach the level of perfection that the original series did, but I love where they decided to go with many of the characters. Quote
Drunkard Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Ash vs Evil Dead just got picked up for a 3rd season. That means another guaranteed 5 hours of El Jefe battling the deadites and saving humanity with his boomstick and chainsaw hand. I got 3 months of Starz for free from Directv too so it doesn't even cost me anything. Check it out if you haven't already. Great 70's rock sountrack to the series as well. Quote
Hoss Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Anybody watching Westworld on HBO? Not 100% through two episodes but it's decidedly unique and at least interesting. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Anybody watching Westworld on HBO? Not 100% through two episodes but it's decidedly unique and at least interesting. I plan on picking it up hopefully this week. Heard nothing but good things thus far. Quote
Hoss Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 I actually had mostly bad thoughts after episode one. Thought "okay, why the hell do I care about any of this?" but episode two helped answer that question. Quote
darksabre Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Another remake lacking in Yul Brynner. Quote
Samson's Flow Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 Anybody watching Westworld on HBO? Not 100% through two episodes but it's decidedly unique and at least interesting. I was intrigued after episode one and episode two helped it along and added imo. I'm a sucker for the sci-fi alternate world type shows so it naturally peaked my interest. The hosts becoming slowly self aware and realizing they are in a sort of Truman Show-esque world should allow for a lot of interesting scenarios. plus, y'kno boobs and such. Quote

Samson's Flow Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I hate you. Spiller tags dammit! Sorry TrueBlue, but that was obvious after the trailer, so I don't know what to tell you. Didn't think I could spoil something after two episodes - I don't even know what is going on yet. Quote
