dudacek Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 SDS wants more threads, so... Jim Matheson 45] @NHLbyMatty Hearing Sabres might have some interest in Yakupov for his speed and low money ($2.5 mil) I'm down for a third Me too. But absolutely no more. Could this be a part of a bigger deal that includes swapping picks 4 and 8? Quote
inkman Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 I toss a third for him all day. At worst you can expose him to the expansion draft. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 I would do Ennis to EDM for Yakupov and the 32 pick. And maybe a 7th. Quote
sabresith Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Just thinking... what about Pysk+Baptise( cause he played with Mcdavid )+8 for Yak and 4. Not saying I would do this, but I would think about it. Edited June 24, 2016 by sabresith Quote

IKnowPhysics Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 I would also trade Casey Nelson (a RHD) and a 5th for Yakupov. Quote
dudacek Posted June 24, 2016 Author Report Posted June 24, 2016 Hopefully it isn't because Murray is looking for something to do after exhausting all other trade options. Seems to work for both teams. Even if it is, buying low isn't a bad idea. He lit it up in limited time with McDavid (I know I know). I'd happily be convinced otherwise, but in my current view Yakopov would be a nothing-to-near nothing add. I certainly wouldn't bet on him adding anything, but longer odds have hit  Yak for a third is a good buy-low experiment. I think he's got skill, I just have no faith in his ability to play hockey and I worry he would simply get in the way. Quote
WildCard Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 I wouldn't trade a 7th for him. He's clueless on the ice Quote
Thorner Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 It's fine for a third. It just doesn't do anything to address our needs so I'm not thrilled with it. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 Honestly, I want him just because my brother's wife LOVES him. It's because of this video: http://youtu.be/F36YNCae9yg Quote
Thorner Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Have to say, that's a damn good interview. "See ya next time. We wins da games". Edited June 24, 2016 by Thorny Quote
qwksndmonster Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 Unfortunately, he speaks flawless English now :( Quote

North Buffalo Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 I would also trade Casey Nelson (a RHD) and a 5th for Yakupov.Noooo! Quote
Huckleberry Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Hockey IQ is bad , but for a 4th or 3rd round pick why not I guess. Eichel, O'Reilly and Reinhart have enough IQ for him to shine. Edited June 24, 2016 by Huckleberry Quote
apuszczalowski Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 The guy was drafted at the top of the 1st round for a reason, he has skill, the hope is that a change of scenery and coaching might help him reach his potential. For a non 1st round draft pick, why not take a chance? It would allow TM to maybe deal away another decent forward for help elsewhere. Quote

He not someone you are overpaying for to be the saviour, hes a buy low, high ceiling/potential candidate that your picking up for the same price you just paid for the rights to a player with no NHL experience. He's cheap so it won't hurt if he doesn't work out and you cut him, and if he works out you have a former 1st rounder with skill Quote
WildCard Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 For me, Yak has already shown what kind ot player he is, and it's not good Quote

kas23 Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 This is obviously overcompensation by GMTM in an attempt to throw the "I hate Russians" reputation. Really, this guy is the epitome of what GMTM hates. Quote
Rasmus_ Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 Unless they take Ennis, I don't get it. Quote
