It's going to hurt a little unless we can miraculously get him for Girgensons and a 2nd. That wouldn't hurt at all.

Problem is we're already very thin at forward so we might have to then make a move for a forward. Waiver wire? Who is still available?

We have some depth in Rochester. It wouldn't be ideal, but our defense needs some help badly.

Rochester would be decimated. But I'd do it.

Before the season started I was willing to include our 2017 1st. Given that we may be out of realistic playoff chances due to injuries, I'm not sure I'm still willing.

There is zero possibility that Anaheim gives up Fowler for a package in which the primary piece is Girgensons or Foligno, any other bottom-6 Sabre, or any player making more than Foligno.

Do the Bruins really have anything better to offer?

Anaheim really doesn't have leverage here either.

I agreed with this in the offseason. It might still be right. However, they're at the cap after signing Rakell, to say nothing of any potential ownership pressure on the internal cap. This is exactly the type of situation that netted the Isles Leddy and Boychuck for just mid-round draft picks.

if you trade for Fowler and don't give up a D from the existing roster. What are your pairings?

I would rather Sabres go after a good bottom pair Dman who can be decent if he has to play for a time in the bottom 4. This shouldn't  cost you as much as Fowler would. Unless Anaheim is desperate to get rid of Fowler and his salary and we can steal him.

This is exaggerated but close to the truth. It'd be nice if Girgensons and/or Foligno and a 2nd would get it done, but it probably won't.

I'm not willing to give my 2017 first.

exactly. A couple of mid round picks and maybe a prospect not named Bailey, Nylander, Baptiste, Guhle, or Asplund,

It's funny how on board with Fowler I was over the summer, I shoved him down everyone's throat, and wanted to part with our first rounder. Right now, I don't think I give up Nylander for him, because we need more fast dynamic players and I have hopes that he becomes one for us.

Still interested in a trade but very wary of what it will cost us. We don't have as many assets as I always assumed the rebuild would get us, and we're far from where we need to be, and I don't think Fowler brings us thaaaaat much closer to a cup team, and we have even fewer assets if we trade for him.

If their cap crunch gets us Fowler for cheap, then hells yeah let's do it.

Besides, even if we get Fowler, Bylsma will still run Gorges with Risto.

I can't wait for Kulikov to get back. I almost want to try McCabe with Risto based on how he looked, get Kulikov with Bogo, and let Gorges fill his niche so I don't have to be sad/angry at him, because I genuinely like him and feel bad for what he had to go through with Nolan and such.

Practice lines today had Kulikov-Franson. I honestly wasn't joking with my comment.

True, but there is also still debate over just how good Fowler is.

That, and the likelihood that w/ getting Fowler the Sabres will now have to protect an extra D-man (or 2) could also keep his value to the Sabres down a little (& haven't looked close, but would expect the same to be true for the B's) & limit what the Ducks can get for him.

Ugh I keep forgetting about the expansion draft.

Mike Richards supposedly is in the best shape of his life.

Awww, Flagg. It's adorable that that's your recollection of events.
