bottlecap Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 With Numminen, Janik and Paetsch injured, Fitzpatrick a -5 vs. Toronto and Lydman and Campbell a -8 in the last 9 games, they're thinking about putting Pominville back on D. That is cause for alarm. I bet Patrick could step right in.
PTS Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 He is available and still Sabres property I believe. I figure, what do you have to lose. He is a smart player that could be an asset just for his experience.
Fronz1103 Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 There are no rules against re-signing new players to the roster this lat in a season? Or is he still under a Sabres contract. That would b awesome if he could play this strech run. He could be a veteran asset to the defense

Saber61 Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 This is Darcy we're talking about, he'll suit up himself before bringing anyone else in :( lol agreed.... bringin in patrick would show a sign of desperation... i like the guy and think he's a decent defenseman but might be too slow for this NHL... is jillson available... i know that guy isn't that great either but still.
LabattBlue Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I was touting re-signing Patrick last week. Make it happen Darcy. Even at his age, the guy can play better in his own end instead of Campbell or Fitzpatrick.
frisky Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 All I remember is that Patrick decided he still wanted to play and left to go play in Europe. I was sad to see him go. Even if he was slow and pokey and old, I think that he added a lot of veteren leadership and played sound defence and had alot he could teach to the younger players as well as being a steadying influence during these rough patches. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back especially if we are left with calling up Jillson or shoving Pominville back to D.
Rayzor32 Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Patrick may be two years older (and slower) than the last time he wore the goathead, but he's still an upgrade over Fitzpatrick and can give us 10 minutes a game until Teppo's healthy..any idea how he played in Europe?
LabattBlue Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Somehow I missed the mention of Pominville possibly playing defense. :o You have got to be kidding. If this is the case, signing Patrick is really a no brainer. As an alternative, what about bringing up the highly touted prospect from juniors...Sekera? Jesus H. Christ, the Sabres need to ge the ship righted before the playoffs and Lindy wants to play Pominville at defense?
Goodfella25 Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Let's get Scott Stevens :D But seriously, that would be sweet
Taro T Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Patrick may be two years older (and slower) than the last time he wore the goathead, but he's still an upgrade over Fitzpatrick and can give us 10 minutes a game until Teppo's healthy..any idea how he played in Europe? Sylvester and Ray interviewed Patrick in between periods a few days back and Patrick said flat out that he was too slow to play in the NHL. My guess is that he talked with Lindy and Darcy but all decided not to consider him as an option. I would not be surprised to see him helping out the coaching staff in the near future though. As for how he played in Germany. No data. He didn't score many points, but that's not his game anymore anyhow.
frisky Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Could be my junior alzheimers but I think I remember that just before Patrick left for Europe they gave him some kind of position within the team doing something or other.
