Stoner Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 I feel like the Vesey backlash here offers material for a case study in the role of the internet in modern sports fandom. You're material for a case study, you judge poser and dress shield sniffer. Quote

LGR4GM Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Supposedly NYR are in on Vesey bUT Buffalo still the favorite. Who knows if true. I assume every team is in on him except Nashville Quote
dudacek Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 For the record, all things being equal, I think Jimmy wants Boston. But that's only with all things being equal. That said, anybody else think that Vesey's comments about Buffalo preparing him for other GMs is basically him basically stating: other teams are going to have to beat what Murray and Bylsma offered? And isn't that basically why Murray made the trade? Quote

That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 And I'm starting to come around on Vesey's agent being a bit much. https://theathletic.com/15886/2016/07/25/coveted-forward-jimmy-vesey-blackhawks/ STFU already, dude. Quote

That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 It's like he thinks his client is Steven Stamkos or something. feck's sake. i get it now. i don't know that i blame the young man for all of his agent's bloviating - but, yeah - that agent can kindly take a hike. Quote

I wonder if they'll reserve a time slot on NHL network to make the announcement? I see him standing alone on stage wearing a black robe which is slowly lifted off his shoulders to reveal the jersey of the team of his choosing. Or maybe he shoots a puck at a target and a banner drops down amongst an eruption of confetti, while a live band breaks into "It's my Life" by Bon Jovi. Meanwhile, Pegula and Murray are on their way to DC to try and lure Ovechkin away from the Caps..... http://flightaware.com/live/flight/XSR630/history/20160727/2010Z/KBUF/KHEF Quote

I am pretty sure that they've been down to DC because their daughter had some success at the tennis tournament there. Didn't she pull off some mammoth upset? Right - here's the story: http://espn.go.com/tennis/story/_/id/17127986/jessica-pegula-upsets-top-seeded-sam-stosur-citi-open-quarterfinals Quote

pi2000 Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) 50! The more I think about this, the more I believe he doesn't really know where he wants to play yet. His heart probably says Boston, but his mind says to stay clear of the hometown team starting a downward spiral. He's probably hoping some team knocks his socks off to make the decision easier. Once again.......there is no knocking the socks off. He will get the maximum ELC period. Haven't we gone over that to the point of museum. Quote

Haven't we gone over that to the point of museum. Yes we know that, and so does he. But maybe some team promises him a spot next to Toews, or Matthews... or power play time, or terms of a future contract, or a locker next to P Kane, or P Bergeron. Or free round-trip flights for family members,e tc.. Edited July 27, 2016 by pi2000 Quote
Stoner Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 And the worm turns! The player, the agent and the father. An unholy triumvirate. Quote
Weave Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Donatelli said Vesey will likely meet with 2-3 teams a day over a few days in Boston in August. He's not visiting teams. Teams are visiting him. Oooooooooooooooooo. Quote
pi2000 Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 He's not visiting teams. Teams are visiting him. Oooooooooooooooooo. pffffffffft! Like he should have to leave the comfort of his parents basement to talk to NHL GMs. What kind of peasant do you think he is? I mean, has a Harvard degree, it's not like he actually needs to go out and look for work. I picture him like the pony tail guy at the bar in Good Will Hunting.... https://youtu.be/QnZ0Y4rvz6E?t=57s Quote

ct fab Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Quenville watched vesey in MA tonight. If Vesey wants to play with them for 2 years then get traded to Columbus cuz Chi can't afford him, then go ahead and sign with them. I would think he'd stay clear of them Quote
dudacek Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 This Chicago "scouting" tactic is kinda sleazy and inspired. As if they don't already have all the info they need without watching summer hockey. I like it. Quote
ct fab Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Borderline tampering w/o quite crossing that line Quote
DirtDart Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Hey there sailor. I would give a 2017 1st, and a Conditional third to have the opportunity. Quote
