That's mighty interesting

They were also discounted to $82. No doubt they'll run some sort of special on getting nameplates if the signing is completed. $20 for a nameplate swap or addition seems like a good idea.

I took it today. At like, I don't know, 11:58 a.m.

I know. I was trying to make a funny. Instead of this being a tipoff that Vesey is a lock to sign, isn't it more likely they just have a glut of 19 jerseys from Hodgson Fever?

I don't actually think it means anything. Just a weird thing to do. No reason to remove the nameplates already if they're already discounted (there are holes in some of them from the nameplate being removed).

Cal O'Reilly wears #19

Cal O'Reilly soon finds himself in the clutches of AHL purgatory.  The 2016-17 season is where Buffalo finally will return from its relegation to have a shot at redemption at the playoffs.  "PLAYOFFS"...

Shouldn't this be considered tampering by Don Sweeney?

“I spoke to Nashville on several items, and that player [Vesey] did come up,” said Sweeney. “[The Sabres] took a swing at the window that they think will help them from a recruiting standpoint. I’m sure that even Nashville would admit that if it gets to August that there will be 29 teams courting him. We’ll see what happens between now and them. If we’d had a [third- round pick] then possibly [we could have traded for his rights]. I don’t really deal in whether or not I had or had not and whatnot, but you have to acknowledge that he’s a good player.

So I was thinking if there was any reason to not wait until August 15 if I were him. There are none and several good ones that support his decision. The biggest is that he gets to see where he stands after the dust settles following the open frenzy of UFA. Teams will deal, players move and new opportunities will appear. If a shortlist team makes a move that he perceives to limit his opportunity, he moves to the next on his list. If the Sabres sign Stamkos he may not see a role for him here, or her may see agreed opportunity to win soon. Same for Detroit, TO or any other team in the Stamkos derby. Okposo, Boedker and others are on the move. Me has seen the draft and will be able to see where he might fit. I can't see him making a quick decision and I hope the Sabres act as if he doesn't want to sign so they take all opportunities that present themselves under advisement.

I agree, 3putt

Only reason to sign now is if Buffalo is where he was leaning to all along and they answer any outstanding questions positively.

Even if he was leaning to Buffalo, it is a catch 22. Sign and risk being trumped by another signing, or for the Sabres make a move to get better and risk losing Vesey. I think the Sabres will act as if they aren't signing him and proceed accordingly, at least I hope.
