beerme1 Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Ya git. There's a new name in town. me. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Vesey update. 10 games, 6 goals, 3 assists 9 pts +5 The kid looks really good. I hate to say it, but it looks like he made the right choice. He is becoming a star in NYC. That means huge opportunities off the ice. Quote

Eleven Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Decent depth, just lacking star power. That's a good formula, IMO. Quote

I will agree: Many of us (myself included) gave the guy a lot of flack for the choice he made, but the early results are a resounding justification of the choice he made. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Vesey's hot start makes me even more sad we didn't get him. Imagine how good our lineup would look with him added to a healthy Jack and Kane come December. Quote
wjag Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Vesey's hot start makes me even more sad we didn't get him. Imagine how good our lineup would look with him added to a healthy Jack and Kane come December. Yep.. This was a big loss. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Vesey's hot start makes me even more sad we didn't get him. Imagine how good our lineup would look with him added to a healthy Jack and Kane come December. Yeah - sucks. Whaddayagonnago, though. Quote
Doohicksie Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 ...and there's no guarantee he would have been happy here, considering he may not have been top line here. Quote
tom webster Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 ...and there's no guarantee he would have been happy here, considering he may not have been top line here. He is number 8 in TOI amongst forwards on his own team so it would appear this is another unsubstantiated rumor about his personality. Quote

K-9 Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 Getting those cushy Vanek circa 2005-2006 minutes? Yep. The RAV line feasted on bottom six opposition. God, I miss that team and Lindy just "rolling four." Quote

inkman Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 It's New York. He doesn't need Canadians. Well my point was, outside of hockey circles, no one will know who he is because as a sport, hockey is and will always be niche. Quote
sodbuster Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Well my point was, outside of hockey circles, no one will know who he is because as a sport, hockey is and will always be niche.Yup, at least in the US. Quote

inkman Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Yup, at least in the US. Also my point by saying "tens of CANADIANS" Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 No matter how you look at it, Murray took the risk that so many bitched about Regier never doing. It didn't pan out. It was a 3rd round pick. In 56 years, how many 3rd rounders ended up being game-changers for the Sabres? Sekera? Sheppard? Cloutier? Seriously, let this die.................. Quote
Thorner Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 The Rangers obviously do have a large fan base, though. Just not relative to their other major sports teams. Quote
pi2000 Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 If anything the early returns validate Murray giving up a third for a sniff... if he was a complete bust we'd be all over Murray and has poor evaluation of Vesey's talent (even tho he acts like an entitled prick). Quote
ubkev Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 The Rangers obviously do have a large fan base, though. Just not relative to their other major sports teams. Show Jimmy's picture to 200 people in Manhattan. If 6 of them knew who he was I'd in my hat. Actually, I bet you could do that with the whole Rangers roster. Definitely the islanders roster. Quote
SwampD Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 There are 20 million people in the greater NY metro area. That's more than half of all of Canada. Maybe relative to the overall population it's not a lot, but there are a lot more Rangers fans than you guys think. Quote

I'm certainly not questioning how many Rangers fans there are but I am questioning how many hockey fans there are. We are a very jaded bunch in here. Most of my friends, who I consider good Sabres fans couldn't name 50% of the roster. Quote
