mjd1001 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Besides Boston, closest team to home? There are TONS of flghts or trains he can take to easly get back, and it is only a 3 hour or so drive? If being close to home but NOT for the Bruins was his priority, this was the best. Quote
pi2000 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 The saddest part about all of this is that this thread is over. Don't be upset fellow Sabres fans, we dodged a bullet. Let Jack be Jack without having to answer for his buddy. I honestly wish Jimmy the best in the NHL, he seems like a smart kid, but he'll have a target on his chest during camp and throughout the season so it'll be a rough ride for a bit. And the sooner he figures out that the NHL doesn't revolve around him, the better. Quote
pastajoe Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Boo da bum. Would have preferred he went to the Western conference. Quote

Yeh but its NYC hated by most Bostonians... another loss to rival for them. Quote
zevo Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 This is great news cuz now I can enjoy the rest of the league taking liberties on his rat-like face....lol....I ain't mad Also lets hope Kane gets his together Quote
mjd1001 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Yeh but its NYC hated by most Bostonians... another loss to rival for them. There is the NYC/Boston thing...but after living in Boston for 5+ years, I always got the impression that Montreal was as big as, or a bigger rival, than the Rangers. Diff division. Quote
Sabel79 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Meh. It was still a better than average use of a third round pick. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 I honestly see no appeal in NYR I don't get it either. Quote
pi2000 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Looking ahead at the NYR cap situation in 2018-19, Miller, Hayes and Vesey all will be RFAs with $40mil in cap hit for only 7 NHL roster players. Could be interesting in a few years. Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 I honestly see no appeal in NYR Me neither. Year after year trying to buy the cup. Quote
WildCard Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 And this means we have to keep Kane. Look for Girgs and Risto to be signed this week Quote
Stoner Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 I honestly see no appeal in NYR It is the only stage big enough for Jimmy Vesey! Come on. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Damn it, rem pitlick gone for tuppins Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 And this means we have to keep Kane. Look for Girgs and Risto to be signed this week We still need a d-man upgrade Quote
ROC Sabres Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Now I would not be surprised to see Nash to Buffalo and Rangers taking back some salary.I don't know much about the details of why that would happen. Care to elaborate? Quote
Brawndo Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Per Joe Haggerty, Buffalo wasn't a finalist. Per a source, the Bruins were a finalist for Jimmy Vesey along with the New Jersey Devils. But they couldn't beat the pitch from NY Rangers It was home or the NYC Area. Oh well Quote
pi2000 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 I honestly see no appeal in NYR Close to home, but not the Bruins, and hometown friends Hayes, Kreider. However, I don't see a very good pipeline of young talent in the organization, they had no 1st or 2nd round pick this year, and no 2nd round pick next year. Hockey's future has them ranked #27 in team prospect rankings (maybe Jimmy think he'll vault them all the way to #1?). But we already knew winning is secondary to Jimmy.. otherwise he would've signed with NSH. Quote

Unless he sucks, then I'll be glad we didn't get 'im. Quote
Claude Balls Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Hope he performs up to the hype, otherwise it's gonna be a rough ride dealing with the NYC media. Good luck Jimmah!! And more proof he and his agent are full of crap.....out of the six teams Buffalo was never a finalist? Makes me wonder if he knew this two months ago. Edited August 19, 2016 by Claude Balls Quote
Doohicksie Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Indeed. Now I hope he crashes & burns. Quote
Weave Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Per Joe Haggerty, Buffalo wasn't a finalist. My take.... As much as we hate to admit it, even with Eichel the Sabres are still in FA hell. It took trading for his rights to get him to hear our pitch, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get a chance to sell the team to him. I think GMTM took a gamble and moved a 3rd rd pick to get a chance at a kid that he wouldn't have had a chance with otherwise. And I'm OK with that. Now lets go win some playoff games and get out of FA hell, FFS. Quote
