Vesey signs with Rangers; huge thread now moot

I heard that Vesey really enjoys when a subway goes by and blasts that shtank of urine and gangrenous homeless folk up through the grates on those 90+ degree days in the City. He's going to the Rags.

I found a gif of Vesey at the NYR's meeting. They took out all the stops

He would be a restricted free agent in 2 years!

And Chicago won't be able to afford him if he produces.

Ta da!

Let's get one thing straight it's much harder for Buffalo to land quality free agents without paying them more than they are really worth plus Buffalo isn't an attractive destination.

Like this year? I don't think Okposo got overpaid do you? I don't think it was hard to land him either do you?

Peter Fish, J. Vesey agent, said reports that it's down to NYR and Chi. are not accurate. Said a handful of teams involved, including B's

Make a ###### decision Jimmy

It's like the prettiest boy at prom got asked out by not only the girl he likes but also 4 other girls who he thinks are hot... decisions decisions

I think he was overpaid. Geez he played with Tavares.

I am looking up Okposo and Tavares ice times now.

Geez. I'm pretty sure there was compelling data presented in that thread regarding how Okposo wasn't a creature of Tavares's greatness.

The NHL might be a tough place to play for this guy. I wonder if players will be gunning for him with all this hoopla. The public marketing of himself to other teams is a turn-off for me personally. But TM gave it a shot to give Buffalo an inside track, if there ever was one, so we'll see. My opinion, I see Brian Holzinger in waiting here and the Sabres might dodge a bullet if they miss out.

Well, the Sabres (and every other team) can only give him a 2-year contract at a pretty low salary, so not much of a bullet there.

I agree that there will be a number of players looking to line him up for a big hit on the ice -- but I think the same is true of any hotshot rookie.

I can imagine the back and forth that happens between an agent and teams for traditional FAs, with all of the salary/length/bonus/incentives that goes into complex contracts, but I really wonder what sort of discussions are happening down the stretch.  You'd think it's just conversations between Vesey and his reps, rather than negotiations between agent and teams at this point, right?

Wonder why he's even commenting on this.

Peter Donatelli, one of Vesey's agents, says a decision is not likely going to happen today, but should be done this weekend at some point.

This is just not necessary. Holy crap Jimmy. We're all waiting.

Yep, at this point I'm not sure I would like him on the Sabres.

Can you imagine the issues going forward like second, third contract negotiations, or god forbid he is demoted to 3rd or 4th line. No thanks, he seems like he would be a headache every time he has to be dealt with.

Is anybody really surprised by this?    I'm expecting his agent to say he's signing with team X, then at the last minute precious Jimmy boy changes his mind and goes with team Y.     Imagine what he'll do if that team tries to send him down to the AHL?   He might quit hockey.
