LGR4GM Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres 16s17 seconds ago NEWS: 2016 #SabresDevCamp will be at @HARBORCTR, beginning July 6. Details: http://bufsabres.co/qyd8fz Quote
Buffaslug Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 I've been trying to dig up some more info on the dev camp, looks like few to no details are out as of yet. They say "early July" but given that the camp starts on the 6th and the 4th is kind of a major holiday that is a very compact timeline for giving notice. I'm hoping to head up for a few days of it, esp since I missed the draft >< Anyone else planning on it? Quote
Hoss Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) They didn't release the roster of players attending until the first day last year (I was there). I'll be in Vegas this year, so I'll have to miss it unfortunately. Edit: although I may be able to hit day one since I don't fly out until 5 pm. Edited June 28, 2016 by Hoss Quote
spndnchz Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 I always go, though having it in the Arena kinda takes the "camp" out of it. Quote
Derrico Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 I'll be there for the actual Game again this year. Actually, since it's on a Saturday we've already booked the hotel and making a weekend out of it. Would be nice if they released info soon on when tickets go on sale. Quote
Eleven Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 I always go, though having it in the Arena kinda takes the "camp" out of it. Looks like it will be at Harborcenter and not the Arena? Quote
spndnchz Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 Looks like it will be at Harborcenter and not the Arena? Oh. Nice. Not exactly driving through a field to get there but a more personal setting. Quote
kas23 Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 After Vesey signing on the 1st, it'll be great to see him suit up. Quote
Eleven Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 Oh. Nice. Not exactly driving through a field to get there but a more personal setting. Yeah, we can skip the drive to Lewiston. Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 After Vesey signing on the 1st, it'll be great to see him suit up. Yes, that would be cool. Have to think getting the deal done and getting on with playing hockey would be a selling point Quote
Eleven Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 Is 23-year-old Vesey really going to do dev camp, even if the Sabres sign him? Quote
3putt Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 Why not? He hasn't logged a minute in either the AHL or NHL. He is a rookie and that is among other things what dev camp is for. Quote

I don't recall a player over 21 ever going to a Sabres development camp, but it's not like I paid that much attention. I could be way off. Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 29, 2016 Author Report Posted June 29, 2016 Is 23-year-old Vesey really going to do dev camp, even if the Sabres sign him? lol, I would say no. Casey Nelson isn't going to go to dev camp is he? Quote

Catenacci was there last year, he was 22 at the time. Quote

North Buffalo Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 Why not to both, indoctrination is needed and eval is important. Quote
sodbuster Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 Why not to both, indoctrination is needed and eval is important. It's more ice time, it's more time with the coaches you're going to work with, and it's another opportunity to gel with some of your teammates. Sounds like a no-lose situation. Quote
spndnchz Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 So yes to Nelson then? I'd think yes. Quote

I guess he isn't going to attend regardless of whether he is signed or not. I hope it isn't a clue as to no signing being imminent, though. Quote

Whaaat?! No Eichel or Reinhart? Are they being shopped?! Seriously tho, Vesey can be added if he signs, and I think it would be a good gesture by him to show up if he does sign. Eichel went through it, Reinhart, Risto, all those core guys went through dev camp as rookies, it's a rite of passage and would help how he's viewed by his peers in the locker room. Quote
kas23 Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 Seems to me Vesey should go. The guy's never suited up for an NHL game in his life. I would think even practice would be much more intense than college practice. That's if he signs of course! Quote
3putt Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 I thought Risto and Girgs and McCabe attended many camps. Jack and Sam are skipping this one, why'? I think it's good to show the noobs how high the bar is. And the face of the franchise has been awfully low key. Just random thoughts. Quote
