What is amazing is how many top RFA's remain unsigned. Trouba, Rakell, Lindhom, Ristolainen, Gadreau and Kucherov. Wow! That is quiet a list. 2 30 goal scorers, a 20 goal scorer, and 3 22+ minute a night D.

I understand why Kucherov and Lindholm aren't signed.

Off topic a little, but everyone has talked about getting Fowler, but what about getting Lindholm instead? Ana still has Theodore and Montour to replace Lindholm for much less money, they could easily sign Rakell at that point. Trading Lindholm would net much more then Fowler. I'd give up Nylander to get Lindholm, I'd also include Foligno to create some additional cap space. I'd then re-sign Lindholm for 6 per for 6 years and make him the no. 1 guy. I'd then offer Risto a 2 year 8 mill deal, take it or leave it and demote Franson to the AHL (saving another 950K in cap).

D pairings. (I know this isn't happening but one can dream)

Lindholm Risto

Kulikov Bogo

McCabe Gorges

Because to get LindHolm you would have to trade Reinhart. They aren't taking Nylander and Foligno

48 Hours Later, not such a great flick, but hopefully come Wednesday the deal is done.  He's as important on the back end as Eichel is up front.

8. As for Ristolainen, not hearing much movement there either. The last player I can remember who practised with his team while being unsigned was Stu Barnes, also in Buffalo. He’s their best defenceman, no doubt. It’s weird to see the Sabres, who have been unafraid to pay, in a battle with one of their top homegrown talents.

This is fast closing in on ridiculous.

Who's the poster who said something to the effect of, Murray will be hesitant to commit to Ristolainen due him not being a Murray draftee? pi?

No offense meant at all with this, pi, but heaven help us if that is actually true.

I honestly believe in this case Risto is just asking for too much, but impossible to know without knowing where each side is at.

Ristolainen and Trouba probably have a pact of solidarity. Ha.

GMTM still hasn't offered a bridge deal yet. He's hoping he signs a medium term deal for 4.5-5.5. If nothing gets done by end of day Monday, they'll settle on a bridge deal. Risto isn't going anywhere.

$5.5 is the right price. If a bridge deal happens and $5.5 was on the table, that's on Risto.

I seem to remember another in camp but not signed. Stafford?

What do you think, he thinks, he is worth?

Honestly I have no idea what he thinks he's worth. I think he's worth 6.5 x 8. Hell, I think that will turn out to be a bargain.

RIght now his worth is $4 mill per season for 2 years.  Until he plays at least decent D on a consistent basis he is an asset on offense and a liability on D.  He also has no leverage other then sitting out.  It's time for both parties to grow up, get the bridge deal done and move on.

This many unsigned players makes me think there is a lot of talking happening behind the scenes.  Someone is shopping something out there and everyone's waiting for that to happen before locking in.

Either that or you have GMs playing the quiet game of "chicken" on who signs their RFA D man first and establishes the baseline.

Either way.... it's entertaining.

Just heard on Sportsnet Lindholm signed @ 5.5 but didn't catch term and can't confirm online anywhere as of yet. So Sign Rasmus!

This might help us. Risto should make less than that.

I think $5.5 is the good compromise number if what we were offering and what he was demanding are to be believed. IIRC, $5.75 would be meeting exactly in the middle.

I still cant find any confirmation of this. I know I heard it but I would think I can find it somewhere but I am not so WTF.

If Rasmus believes he deserves more than Lindholm, Jones and Reilly, I'd do 5.75 if it buys UFA years.

If he doesn't accept that, he's out to lunch.

Lindholm is currently a much better player than Risto.    It's not even close.

Why should GMTM bow to his demands?   Again, Risto has no leverage here.   He either signs or he doesn't play... and at this point of his career he needs to be playing or he will regress.. maybe permanently.

I'm hearing he'll settle on a bridge deal in the next 36 hours.... but it won't be anywhere near $6.0.
