Randall Flagg Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Allow me to vent. I'm ###### sick of literally everything going perfectly for Toronto in their rebuild. We suffer through two full years of the worst hockey imaginable, lose both lotteries, and lose out on the best coach in the league at the 11th hour. They get the best coach, only have to endure one true tank year, win the lottery with their 20% chance, and their other top-5 picks look like studs, all while being praised for the "perfect rebuild" and having the entire hockey media establishment of Canada fawning over them. Then they have the audacity up there to not even talk about Eichel for the Calder, who 100% should be a finalist. And their fans continue to think they're the center of the hockey universe even though even though they haven't won anything since before the Sabres even existed. F the Toronto Maple Leafs. F their fans. F their media lapdogs. F Mike Babcock. F Auston Matthews. I hope he busts. I want Eichel to score a hat trick every single game against them while powering through the finesse prima dona afraid to go to college. If I were rich, I'd buy out the ACC every single time Buffalo played up there and personally bus up 20,000 Sabres fans. I didn't want to pay Stamkos. I really didn't. But now? F it, let's get him just so Toronto doesn't. And if he goes to Toronto? F him and I hope the blood clots end his career. F 'em all. The most insufferable fan base in the universe deserves misery. Let them think they're good, and let's knock their ###### out of the playoffs in the first round every single year. Have fun winning with a bunch of offensive specialists who don't know they have a blue line to play within. F it. F 'em. Bring it. If Benning wants one of the defensemen, then I don't want whichever one he takes anyway. Because everything he does is wrong. Love the fire, True. This is Toronto. Things won't stay this perfect for them for the next ten years. There will be hiccups. There is no place that latches onto hiccups and then uses them to kill a player/team like Toronto and their media and fans do. Jack's training like Rocky as we speak. It will be okay. Even if they get Stamkos, that's 10 mil they can't give to a now extensive list of Matthews/Marner/Rielly/Nylander. And most of us think Stamkos won't be worth it. Quote
Brawndo Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 No, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal would have been worse. I think Detroit will go hard to replace Datsyuk. I would have rather had The Oilers win it again then the Leafs. The vitriol that came Buffalo's Way from TO Media over the past two years, then the effusive praise by the same media for the Leafs doing the same thing is hypocrisy to the highest magnitude. Quote
3putt Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I would like to sign Raffi Torres and John Scott to unusual contracts. You play in the A unless its Toronto or Edmonton. If the league suspends you for life your contract pays double its value. If McDavid has a career ending injury it triples. If marner a d matthews suffer the same it quadruples. Then again I like to think outside the box. Quote

BagBoy Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Jeez, people. I hate the Leafs as much as anyone, but get over it. This doesn't undo any of the great strides we have made the last two years as an organization. Take a deep breath, watch the Caps/Pens game, and get some sleep. Besides, Matthews is a coke fiend. LGR4GM Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I say let's grab a top 4 defender in trade, sign vesey and then kick leaf ass 4 times a year Jeez, people. I hate the Leafs as much as anyone, but get over it. This doesn't undo any of the great strides we have made the last two years as an organization. Take a deep breath, watch the Caps/Pens game, and get some sleep. Besides, Matthews is a coke fiend. Lol thank you. I think you have good advice. Quote

JJFIVEOH Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Didn't the league release the behind the scenes video of the actual lottery draw complete with proof of time, date and lawyers? I want to see this year's. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Make friends with Edmonton and swap up to get Tkachuk - use some of those extra 2's and 3's have have banked. I would use the extra 3's to sweeten it up for that defender. That is the priority. Quote
Brawndo Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Andrew Berkshire @AndrewBerkshire 4m 4 minutes ago Based on NHLe Matthews' season in Switzerland projects to 42 points over 82 NHL games. Eichel projected for 54 and got 56. And yet per an "Anonymous Canadian Scout", Eichel isn't fit to carry Matthews' Skates Quote

French Collection Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I'm disappointed they got #1 pick but at least we stayed at 8. Ticket prices for the draft just tripled. I still want to go but will have to try and tune out Leaf Nation. Quote

LGR4GM Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Players want to play with good players. Players want to go where they think they can win. Matthews improves Toronto's pitch in both categories. Murray marches to his own drum and I will not be surprised if he picks a player at 8 some people will consider a reach. I just pulled Bean as some one who might fit that profile. I think Buffalo is still a winNing destination. Jack Eichel is a draw. Murray might but there isn't anyone putting a defender above the current top 3. Murray is a good talent evaluator so I think he'll see the step above the current 3 defenders are. Quote
Derrico Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 To me this just solidify's Buffalo will choose a defenseman All depends on who goes ahead of us. If it's big 3 plus tkachuk, Dubois, julovi and chychurn are gone then I don't know where Murray goes. Next best available would seem to be Nylander and sergachev. I just don't see TM drafting either. If any of those 7 fall I think that's the pick. the leafs. At least it'll be more fun beating their now that the fans care. Quote
CallawaySabres Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 It's the what if that kills me. Just give us a top 3 for the love of God. Add one of those top 3 and this place explodes. And even though the odds were slim, just thone few seconds when they announced 8 spot, ugh. Just the thought of adding Matthews to this team...it would have been too much to handle mentally. Oh well, got to get one big trade now Quote
3putt Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 It's fair to say that the Sabres and Leafs are building different kinds of teams and though the Leafs are going to be good I think we're building a team that will grind them to dust over a 7 game series which, frankly, is all that really matters. The Sabre/Leaf thing needs some more heat anyway, it's good for both of us and that we've only ever met once in the playoffs is something that needs to change. I do not fear the leaves, I have lost all respect for the integrity of the league. I no longer believe that it is about the best team wins as opposed to " what team will be best for revenue." The leaves should be roasted for tanking but will be hailed as geniuses. It's . Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 Murray might but there isn't anyone putting a defender above the current top 3. Murray is a good talent evaluator so I think he'll see the step above the current 3 defenders are. On that note, I still believe Murray would have taken Reinhart #1 two years ago even though Ekblad was the consensus #1. Though I think he likely has Matthews and Laine at 1-2, I don't think it's crazy to think he may have a Dman #3. Quote

Agree completely on Buffalo being a destination. Was only saying Leafs improved in that category. I think Murray snatches Juolevi in a second if he's there. I choose to believe in Murray's alleged Russian bias until he shows me different, so scratch out Serge. I'm skeptical of Chychrun being a Murray type. Purely my own prejudices talking here, but I would be surprised to see him pick Nylander. There goes three of the players likely available. Don't know the middle ten that well yet, but I bet there is someone there that he has seen "it" in despite a reservation consensus has about size, or some such factor. 3putt Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) When MLB realized that the west was the future they moved the Dodgers from Brooklyn to LA and the Giants to San Francisco. I think they let the leaves draft Mattews and announce that they are moving to Seattle to balance the conferences. That would be justice. Edited May 1, 2016 by 3putt Quote
