That Aud Smell Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Here's the follow-up to that terrific social-media-generated story about a black guy from St. Louis who discovered hockey during game 7 of the Blues-Blackhawks series (the guy may be spoiled for all future games). http://deadspin.com/man-who-discovered-hockey-attends-hockey-game-loves-it-1774673432 It occurs to me: Can I presently imagine the very staid in-arena production team of the Buffalo Sabres posting something on the jumbotron acknowledging that a new folk-hero fan had observed on Twitter: "THIS S#*&@ IS LIT!" I cannot. Hopefully that will change. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I don't get it, what did he do that's different from everybody else who attends their first game? Quote
Eleven Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I don't get it, what did he do that's different from everybody else who attends their first game? It's how he got invited to his first game that's the fun part. He was looking for a Cardinals game on TV, found the Blues-Hawks game 7 instead, and his mind was blown. Had never seen hockey before, even on TV. Tweeted a lot about it. Team ended up comping him two seats on the glass to game 3 in the Dallas series. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Ah OK. I didn't see what happened, just read the story. Quote

Here's a good article with some of his funnier tweets from the TV game: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/benjamin-hochman/hochman-when-tony-x-found-the-blues-he-became-a/article_5a168dba-5390-5310-91ea-5a9b0a3f0d9e.html Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 Give Oshie an Oscar for that performance. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Holtby's looking great out there, all series. Maybe next year he'll play 75 games in the regular season. Edited May 5, 2016 by JJFIVEOH Quote
Norcal Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 Ovechkin gettin free with his stick. Hes gonna end up with one accross the wrists soon enough. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 That was the best pass Weber has ever made.    There is not a single atom in my entire body that misses Mike Weber. Not-a-one. Quote
Stads Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 I know Weber grew up in Pittsburgh. Is there a chance he thought he was on the Penguins when he made that no-look tape to tape beauty? Quote
Thorner Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 Haha, Pens win again. See this so often, the team going in hot brings a game that the team who hasn't played meaningful games in months can't solve. Don't count the Flyers series, if anything the Flyers sitting on their heels all series did the Caps even worse. Caps just look frustrated. Even Trotz. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted May 5, 2016 Author Report Posted May 5, 2016 Looks like I missed an epic ending, and the collapse of the capitals Sooooo, blues vs pens in finals Quote
darksabre Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 Okay so I was off by a round Washington losing in the first round is going to be hilarious. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 I haven't been following the Caps closely enough: What injuries and/or suspensions precipitated Weber being out there in OT? Against Crosby's line? Who's next on D for the Caps? Jeff Jillison? Quote

Don't count the Flyers series, if anything the Flyers sitting on their heels all series did the Caps even worse. Caps just look frustrated. Even Trotz. This calendar year (i.e., from January 1st onward) the Pens had the best record in the East, not the Caps. So, I'm not sure it is such a surprise to see the Pens doing well in this series. Plus, Trotz has a history of great regular seasons followed by disappointing playoffs. Quote

So, I'm not sure it is such a surprise to see the Pens doing well in this series. Plus, Trotz has a history of great regular seasons followed by disappointing playoffs. But that's what I meant. The Pens were the hot team over the last several months. I agree it's not a surprise, though. The Pens look like they have a very formidable hockey team. And along with Trotz, the Caps have that same history. Edited May 5, 2016 by Thorny Quote
Ogre Posted May 6, 2016 Report Posted May 6, 2016 Wow. Blues are rolling and Edmunson pulls a Weber. He wears 6 as well... Quote

Eleven Posted May 6, 2016 Report Posted May 6, 2016 Are announcers greatly exaggerating routing saves or is it just me? I've noticed this over several years. The Nashville crowd is on fckng FIRE!!!!! People are watching that series? Quote
