Hoooooooooooo boy. I've long been a proponent of video review because of some egregious offsides that have gone unnoticed, but after seeing it play out this season I'm in favor of some kind of "reasonable distance" standard so toenail offsides no longer wipe out goals.

I also may or may not be biased because I picked the Blues in multiple playoff pools

Offsides should only be reviewed at full speed. If you can't determine if it's offsides at full speed then it's too close to call.

What a shitshow.

Because there are so many unreviewable plays that have so much more to do with any goal. You can't have them challenge an offside call and pick up the play where it was when they determine it wasn't offside. You can't challenge a penalty that was called incorrectly that gives another team the game. But something as unimportant as that little foot lift, while still in spirit of the offside rule like the constant icing shots just short of the red line that they let go, can turn a series. It's ridiculous to think this is good for the game. It's a joke.

Stay onside. It's pretty simple.

I knew I liked you. Wanna team up and beat the out of Bettman with soap bars in pillow casings with me? I'll buy the bars and cases, but I get first hit

So are you okay with the coaches challenge staying exactly the same way and then doing nothing to address those other, more important plays that I mention? Why on earth would you be?

So would you support adding coaching challenge rules to fix all those other missed broken rules that I mention too? Or is it perfect the way it is, arbitrarily singling out that specific one even though it carries no more importance than any other play? You're really fine with it like this, exactly as it is?

I only hate it when my team is on the losing end of a challenge. everyone else.

I just watched 2 minutes of hockey take a half an hour, and in every other year it's 2-2 right now.

This is just annoying, right or wrong, it's not worth it

Yup. A sport for fun is turned into a debate on technicalities Edited by WildCard

They have to get rid of that offside review next year. That's been a good goal for the history of the league. If it's not called and not obvious you let it go. Only pucks in the net should be reviewed.

I think the players will ultimately adjust their game. They won't be riding the razors edge trying to time the zone entry. They will hold up a half step to avoid this in the future.

Which ruins scoring, pace, and the game. IDGAF if the call is right in something that minor, just play the game
